Good effort here on AW bow over a mile when close second, less so last week dropped to this trip but should have his chance in the class.
Yet to win but gone close on three occasions around here over multiple trips late last year, coming off a break he's got a decent chance amongst these.
Unraced gelding turns up here and trainer has been lean in 2017 with just one placed effort from 18 runners to date.
Disappointing in two starts since joining this trainer, not entirely ruled out based on efforts in Wolverhampton maiden in November over longer trip but hard to fancy on most recent evidence.
Son of Famous Name is also making his first start in this contest and, like stablemate Man Cave, he faces a fair task given the trainer's recent form. Market can guide in both instances.
Acquitted himself well enough in pair of 5f maidens on turf around this time last year, has been off since April ahead of this AW bow over longer trip but could have a say.
Cut no ice in pair of turf maidens last year and similar tale in C&D maiden in October. Has work to do on return to be competitive.
Disappointing effort last month over C&D in a maiden, trainer remains in decent form but more is required to see him win this evening.
Bit of ground to make up on Hailstone based on clash over a mile here last month, weighted to close the gap but not sufficiently to overturn.
Ran free and backed out it very quickly on debut here in November over this trip, since switched hands but looks up against it again in this contest.
Yet to run over this trip and while some of his form is decent, stable debut last month over 5f was most disappointing.
Forecasts
Hailstone (11/8), Magnification (7/2), Ely Place (6/1), Steelyeyed (10/1), Wild Shot (11/1), Brave Display (12/1), Sixtysix (16/1), Man Cave (25/1), Stander (33/1), Guiding Star (33/1), Dells Well (33/1)
Hailstone has a clear claim in this company based on his AW bow over the mile but it is something of a concern that he's run poorly at this trip since and he might be worth taking on with MAGNIFICATION. He ran with credit three times around here late last year and on his previous try at this trip made up ground from an unpromising position in the straight to finish third. Coming off a break and with better positioning from a good draw, he might be the answer in the opener. AW debutant Sixtysix is worth a look having run nicely over the minimum trip on turf last year while Ely Place and Wild Shot are potentially capable of better than what has been seen lately.
- Magnification
- Hailstone
- Sixtysix
