Course winner over 5f who has yet to win over this trip (only one previous attempt) who ran well last time out over 6f here. Looked as though he would be better for his last run but does have to prove himself over this trip and off this mark.
Only had one previous win on the AW (Tapeta) so this will be a new experience for him on Polytrack for the first time. Showed some smart form in tough handicaps last year although didn't manage to win and ran poorly on his last start.
Yet to win on the AW (five starts) and lightly raced of late but has won when rated higher than the mark he runs off here. Shaped nicely on his latest start when showing a lot of his old ability in a race that didn't really go his way and of interest still off this mark.
Course winner who has five AW wins to his name and looks at home over this 7f trip. In good form of late with a good second here last time and running very consistently so must be of interest again off the same mark.
C&D winner although his losing run is starting to stack up now and he hasn't won since 2014. Showed up well at Newcastle last time out (7f) looking a little more straightforward than he has in the past. Handicapper has certainly given him a chance if he can build on that last run.
C&D winner off a 6lb lower mark last year but rather off his game of late until last time out when third in first-time cheekpieces here over 6f. Handicapper has left him on the same mark for that effort and that gives him a chance on the best of his AW form.
Winner of this race last year off a 2lb higher mark and is a three time C&D winner. Shaped quite nicely under today's rider over C&D in a lesser grade last time out never really landing a blow from a poor position and first-time visor may bring about some improvement.
Has won over this course but generally runs in a lower grade than this and will be off a 1lb lower mark in future handicaps. His last run was only modest and he would need to show more here to take a hand.
Just one win over C&D from five attempts but has won five times here in total. This is a tougher grade than he usually runs in and operating from out of the handicap so looks to have a little work to do in this company.
Forecasts
Horsted Keynes (9/2), Angelic Lord (9/2), Intransigent (5/1), Shyron (11/2), Suqoor (11/2), Kadrizzi (15/2), Pearl Spectre (10/1), Baraweez (20/1), Swiss Cross (33/1)
The best race on the card and it looks a competitive contest with last year’s winner Shyron off a lower mark this time but it could well be a stronger race this year. Both Intransigent and Horsted Keynes should be respected although the latter is on a long losing run and has looked an awkward ride in the past. Suqoor appeared sharpened up by the cheekpieces last time out and is still nicely handicapped on his best form. However, the vote goes to ANGELIC LORD who had some good form as a three-year-old and ran well enough last time out with the handicapper giving him a chance.
1. Angelic Lord
2. Suqoor
3. Intransigent
