Returns to maiden company after running without distinction in low-grade handicaps of late and looks to have a tough task.
Failed to settle in his sole outing so far over 6f at Kempton Park in November and was well beaten. Gelded after that run and blinkers worn on debut are removed today.
Draw on the wide outside is a worry as he moves back into maiden company after two starts in handicaps. Not shown much in two starts here but shaped better last time out in a 5f Kempton Park handicap.
Just the one run so far when well beaten on a 6f Southwell maiden (slowly away) and would need to show far more here to take a hand.
Still a maiden after 16 Flat starts (12 on the AW) and the limit of his ability is well known; below form last two starts.
Half-brother to several winners but looked very green on his only start so far at Windsor in June. Comes back from a break and looks the sort to do better with more experience.
Two starts on the AW recently and finished last on both starts at Chelmsford and Newcastle over 6f each time.
Looks to be making steady progress and stepped up on her turf form with a good second over C&D on her latest start. That run came after a break and she should be a little fitter this time around, she remains with potential.
Half-sister to several winners including the 5f-6f winner Miss Anabaa. That points to her having a good sprinting pedigree and the yard do well with this sort. It will be interesting to see what the market makes of her in a weak contest.
Half-sister to several winners over all sorts of trips and merits respect coming from a good yard although the market may well tell the story here.
Forecasts
Mercers (9/4), Endeavour (5/2), Jashma (6/1), Midnightly (7/1), Beach Dancer (10/1), Miss Mirabeau (11/1), Heavenly Cry (12/1), Frank's Legacy (33/1), Clean Cut (66/1), Hurricane Alert (100/1)
This is far weaker than the other maiden on the card and although it looked as though MERCERS would have to wait for handicaps to taste success this race gives her a good chance to break her duck. Endeavour has to be given a chance based on his last run although the wide draw is a worry. Of the two newcomers the most interesting over this minimum trip is Midnightly for a yard that have been known to have a debut winner with this sort. Jashma should also be taken note of as he looks the sort to do better with this run under his belt.
1. Mercers
2. Midnightly
3. Endeavour
