First win since 2011 last time out and obviously well-handicapped if building upon that. Has fared well with the draw and clearly enjoys it around here so leading claims.
Three wins from five runs on the AW and is starting to look well-handicapped but for good reason. Last two starts have been particularly poor and has a wide draw to contend with.
In fine form this time last winter but hasn't been the same since and has developed a habit of missing the break. Unplaced on last seven starts and still above last winning mark so he looks opposable once again.
Failed in hat-trick bid at Lingfield last time out and that could be sign of things to come from a mark this high but he's in good form at least and not without a place chance.
Not got his head in front since 2014 and has blown his chance from the stalls on his last three runs. Top apprentice booked again and drop back in trip an obvious bonus but will need to break better to be considered for win purposes.
No doubt he's well-handicapped on old form but has turned into an unreliable type, often slow from the stalls. Not placed in last 12 starts and looks set to find this tough from the widest draw.
Well-handicapped and duly delivered last week over C&D. The booking of this jockey is an obvious bonus and he's a danger to all if he's turned the corner.
One win from eight starts but hasn;t looked quite as effective on the AW as turf and may need this after a winter break.
Maiden on the AW (dual winner on turf), and campaigned mainly at Newcastle since October 2016. Proved particularly disappointing last time finishing last of six and doesn't particularly well-handicapped even on his very best form so looks hard to fancy.
Seems to enjoy the slower AW surfaces and 4lb for recent win at Kempton looks a fair rise. Disappointing at Lingfield on latest start but probably marginly better suited to a track like this and he's likely to still be in form.
Lightly raced but shown very little in his five starts and got outpaced over further last time, so this trip may not be ideal.
Not won in 23 starts and has gone off favourite the last twice, proving particularly disappointing last time out. Does look well-handicap but likely to need everything to drop right and yard have been in poor form of late.
Forecasts
Magic City (5/2), Tripartite (11/2), Masamah (6/1), Mehdi (13/2), Athletic (7/1), Hamish Mcgonagain (10/1), So It's War (12/1), Veeraya (16/1), Clement (18/1), Equally Fast (40/1), St Andrews (40/1), Fleckerl (40/1)
The two horses owned by Dr Marwan Koukash, Mehdi and MASAMAH, have both bounced back to form recently but it's the latter who may prevail here today. He gets the services of George Baker for the first time and he's only up 2lb for his last win. The former has drawn well and has been steadily working his way back to form but it's questionable whether he'll have as much in hand from a handicapping perspective. If Magic City can break better he ought to give them both a run for there money with talented claimer Nathan Evans on board.
1. Masamah
2. Mehdi
3. Magic City
