Is a course winner and clearly has plenty ability but has become a bit quirky of late and hasn't got his head home in front since November 2015. Conceding weight all round and, even with the claimer on, it is a big ask.
Back to form with Leopardstown success last month over this trip, yard is going well just now and jockey booking should be viewed a positive despite hike in ratings.
Ran a sound race when second to Clarcam over fences on Thursday, hurdles rating entitles him to plenty respect if coping with quick turnaround, winner last time out over timber.
Three from four over flights, fair run in Listed company when meeting sole defeat. Runs for the first time in handicap and not hard to see him going well with 5lb claimer up.
Good Leopardstown winner at Christmas over 2m4f, showing game attitude to get the job done. Has to prove stamina at this extended trip but good chance on form if seeing it out.
Another that switches to hurdles having been chasing most recently, doesn't appear to be well handicapped and others make more appeal.
Winner at this venue over two-miles in November, subsequent run at Leopardstown over this trip suggests handicapper will scupper hopes in this field.
Been foiled in two attempts at valuable handicaps since joining champion trainer, latest over fences at Christmas. Clearly represents a big threat to all though might just settle for place money again.
Progressive in maiden hurdles, got off the mark at Navan in December when upped to 2m7f, should have more to offer and likely to make his presence felt on handicap debut.
Scored at Killarney in August but tends to be frustrating overall, first run for this yard after leaving champion trainer and might take some time to see him at his best.
Off the track for over a year, lightly raced over hurdles and has to have some sort of chance though it will take fine training performance to grab this prize first time up.
Good run over this trip at Leopardstown last month when third of 12, should give another decent account of himself.
Fair effort in valuable Leopardstown handicap at Christmas to be seventh of 25 over this trip, that was first attempt in handicaps and races off same mark now.
Backmarker behind some of these over the trip at Leopardstown at Christmas time, hard to see how he turns that form around.
Similarly was struggling in Leopardstown contest at Christmas, finishing well down the field and gets just 1lb relief for this race.
Running well this season, runner-up at Thurles last month and on a workable mark if proving that he truly wants three-miles against decent opposition.
Ahead of some of these at Leopardstown a fortnight ago over this trip when finishing fourth after a mistake at the last. Remains open to improvement and trainer is greatly respected.
Pulled up at Leopardstown a fortnight ago but previous Fairyhouse success over three-miles was promising and just 4lb higher in this.
Eye-catching progress from unpromising position when flying home at Leopardstown over Christmas. Lost that in a photo and has more weight now but lightly raced and should give this a real push.
Scored here in November over 2m6f and since gone close dropped in trip at Leopardstown. Favoured by the step up in trip but less so by the weights for this.
Forecasts
The Crafty Butcher (4/1), Isleofhopendreams (11/2), Presenting Percy (8/1), Glenloe (9/1), Sutton Manor (10/1), Oscar Sam (10/1), Exactoris (14/1), Woodford Island (14/1), First To Boogie (16/1), Mahler Ten (18/1), Gallant Oscar (20/1), Our Vinnie (20/1), Jack The Wire (20/1), Carrig Cathal (20/1), Inch Rise (25/1), Val De Ferbet (25/1), Chain Gang (28/1), Diamond Cauchois (33/1), Taglietelle (50/1), Argentino (66/1)
This looks as fiercely competitive as would be expected, 20 runners and more than half the field could be given credible chances on recent form. Oscar Sam produced a career-best to win over this trip at Leopardstown a fortnight ago, he's up 7lb but could be capable of defying the handicapper for a trainer that won this contest in 2014. He brings the likes of Sutton Manor and Woodford Island right into contention while Mahler Ten and Presenting Percy were ahead of him over Christmas at Leopardstown. Runner-up that day was ISLEOFHOPENDREAMS, coming from an unpromising position on the inside rail before flying home on the outside to be denied in a head bobber. Despite the extra weight, he looks sure to grab a prize like this at some stage. The same trainer saddles The Crafty Butcher who has been in fine fettle in two runs since joining this yard. He is sure to run another big race in this while Carrig Cathal is an intriguing recruit to handicapping with a valuable claim to aid his chances. Glenloe is also starting a handicap for the first time and makes plenty appeal.
1. Isleofhopendreams
2. Oscar Sam
3. Glenloe
