In good form at the end of last year winning a maiden and two handicaps at Chelmsford all over 5f. Not best suited by the run of the race at Wolverhampton last time out (raced wide) coming back from a break and runs off the same mark here.
Dual winner last year but not seen since Sandown in August and may find this tough at his age against some race fit rivals.
Winner of a claimer at Wolverhampton in early 2016 but struggled a little after that. Appeared to come back to form last time out at Kempton Park when reverting to positive tactics and well drawn here to repeat those off an attractive mark.
Winning handicapper last year on three occasions and back from a break last time out at Wolverhampton. Looked to need the run there and better expected this time around.
Rather inconsistent sort who turned in one of his better performances last time out when second at Newcastle over 5f. Never sure to be in the same mood to follow up a good run though.
Useful sprint handicapper who has run some solid races of late. Fourth in a strongly run 6f handicap at Lingfield last time out and may well find this a little on the sharp side.
Fairly useful handicapper and won at Lingfield in 2016 early on (beat Burning Thread) in this race. Last seen in November at Wolverhampton when not getting the best of runs and often has to come from off the pace and can find getting a clear run a problem.
Ran well on his last start finishing off best of all after running wide at Wolverhampton over 5f. In fair form overall at the moment although this is a step up in grade from his last run.
Best over 5f and in fair form of late although this will be a stiffer test that usual and he probably has something to find with most of these.
Forecasts
Verne Castle (9/4), Vimy Ridge (9/2), Come On Dave (6/1), Taajub (7/1), Fly True (7/1), Mossgo (10/1), Burning Thread (12/1), Rosealee (12/1), Secret Asset (33/1)
No last time out winners in this race but there are still some interesting performers to take a look at and a couple that look as though they may well be able to build on their last starts. Verne Castle was in good form prior to his fifth at Wolverhampton where he didn’t get the run of the race at all. Fly Tune was finishing to good effect last time out but does have to produce a little more here taking a rise in grade. Both Vimy Ridge and Taajub are capable of winning races like this but in the end this may be best left to COME ON DAVE. Positive tactics have always suited him best and he’s well drawn to execute them today from a good draw in stall 1.
1. Come On Dave
2. Verne Castle
3. Taajub
