Won over 5f at Southwell last time out off a career low mark (61) with cheekpieces on for the first time. Runs under a penalty this time around and may be able to follow-up in a race that lacks depth.

One win from seven starts at the track and a consistent performer here although the win only came in a seller over 6f. Yet to win over 5f and well beaten at this track last time over 6f although that defeat came in a much stronger race.

Disappointing in her last two starts at Southwell over 5-6f and handicapper giving her a real chance. Despite the declining mark needs to show more sparkle here.

Consistent performer on this surface but this will be the shortest trip that's he has tried. Not sure he has the pace to win over this trip despite being effective on fibresand.

Run 20 times here but with just a victory in a maiden (6f) to show for those efforts. Has won on turf and other AW surfaces with last win coming in May at Ripon over 5f off 65. Rated much lower on AW and finished fourth at Southwell last time out (6f); may be suited by the return to 5f but is inconsistent overall.

In good form last year with three wins and overall a very consistent sort. Had a couple of attempts on this surface before (runner-up on one of them) but gets a tough draw.

Two previous tries on this surface have not amounted to much and looks better on tapeta. Needs to bounce back from a poor effort last time out when failing to lead and form yet to convince on fibresand.

Form only modest and shown very little of late. Finished last over 6f in one previous try on this surface.

Couple of respectable efforts of late and had placed for at Southwell without totally convincing on fibresand. Now below his last winning mark but not looking like a winner waiting to happen on his Lingfield form last time out.

Poor handicapper but has won four times at Southwell, the last three over 5f. Fair third in a C&D seller last time out (little chance at the weights) and a repeat of that form may see him take a hand here.

Forecasts

Archimedes (11/4), Treaty Of Rome (3/1), Jacob's Pillow (3/1), Charlie Lad (9/1), Imjin River (10/1), Pearl Noir (12/1), Roy's Legacy (16/1), Steel City Boy (25/1), Name That Toon (25/1), Harpers Ruby (33/1), Spiraea (40/1), Emerald Bay (100/1)

Verdict

Not a huge amount of strength in depth here and Archimedes looks to have a decent chance of following up his latest win here under a penalty. He is however drawn quite high and those drawn in double figures don’t have a great record on the sprint track at Southwell. That may leave the way open for horses like Charlie Lad or JACOB’S PILLOW to have a chance here. The latter is off a reasonable mark now and the latter can travel very strongly and should get a good position down the middle of the track. Pearl Noir would be of interest if he came back to form as would the down in trip Treaty Of Rome who may find things happening just too quickly over 5f. 1. Jacob's Pillow 2. Treaty Of Rome 3. Archimedes
