Useful on the AW (won a Listed race at Lingfield last year) but yet to experience this surface. Very much below his best his best at Newcastle last time (ran very freely) and faces a tough task here.

Smart handicapper and won three times last year, all on the AW and his record on such surfaces has to be respected with four wins from seven runs. Not seen to best effect last time out when he travelled well but was given plenty to do. Has no experience of this surface and this draw can be tough over 5f.

Best form at 5f and a useful handicapper at that trip and has a decent AW record but has yet to experience this fibresand surface. Below form last time out at Newcastle and needs to show more on a new surface here.

From a yard that do well with their runners here and has a record of (125) over C&D but hasn't run here for a couple of years. Run well on his last three starts on the Tapeta at Newcastle, the last twice over 6f. Beaten favourite last time and stable not quite firing at the moment though and whilst he travels strongly he can doesn't win as often as he should.

Has won in this grade on his penultimate start at Newcastle over 5f in December that his second win on the AW. This will be his first experience of fibresand although the sire offers some hope that he will act here.

Lost his unbeaten record on the fibresand last time out but lost nothing in defeat when returning to form. Takes a rise in class here on his favoured surface and despite the rise in grade has to be respected.

Won on her debut on fibresand (not unusual for one from this stable) and is a fairly consistent sort overall. Steps up in grade here after finishing seventh over C&D last time in a 0-90 and has work to do with a few she finished behind last time although she may not have been best placed in that contest.

Seven-time AW winner (all at Southwell) over 5-6f and turned in a career best when winning over C&D last time out beating Meadway by ½ length. Now off a career high mark and may need to take another step forward to add to his wins on this surface but very worthy of respect on his favourite surface.

Useful handicapper on the AW but yet to run on this surface and although his breeding suggests he will act on it on recent form this looks tough.

Lady Nayeft16
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-2| J: Hollie Doyle(5)| T: J Butler| OR:  79
10/1
Comes here seeking a four-timer and a filly that looks to act on all the AW surfaces. Had just the one run on fibresand and that resulted in a win off a mark of 67 (now rated 79). Takes a big rise in class and runs from out of the handicap here but is in form and not totally discounted.

Forecasts

Encore d'Or (7/2), Poyle Vinnie (5/1), Meadway (5/1), Distant Past (7/1), Showdaisy (8/1), Razin' Hell (17/2), Lady Nayef (10/1), Bowson Fred (12/1), Lightscameraction (14/1), Top Boy (33/1)

Verdict

Without doubt the best race on the card and there will be plenty of interest in Encore D’Or but he has a tough draw (1) and no experience of this unique surface. For that reason it may well be better to take a look at two sprinters who although up in grade have shown that they can act on this surface in MEADWAY and Razin' Hell. They are closely matched on their running last time out but it may well be Meadway who can reverse the form this time around. Showdaisy shouldn’t be written off – she was behind that duo last time out but raced on the unfavoured part of the track and may get closer this time around. Poyle Vinnie, Distant Past and Bowson Fred all contribute to what should be a fascinating sprint over 5f in what is a very good race for the track. 1. Meadway 2. Razin' Hell 3. Showdaisy
