Beaten by a promising sort in Fairyhouse bumper last month, clear of the remainder and has since run modest race over hurdles at this venue.

Trainer has an admirable record in these races, makes first appearance here and any support should be noted.
Another newcomer, interesting breeding and would be of interest here if attracting support. Fair ask on debut however.
Close third at Punchestown on New Year's Eve, runner-up has since finished second again at that venue. Good chance mare will have more to offer yet.

Forecasts

Bakmaj (6/4), Imperial Way (11/4), Derrinross (4/1), Blairs Cove (5/1), Mad Carew (8/1), Kivalina (12/1), Chestnut Brave (16/1), Biennial (16/1), Simone (20/1), Made In Mayo (40/1)

Verdict

DERRINROSS is the pick of those with experience and gets the nod based on his Fairyhouse debut when second at Fairyhouse and he can go on better here. Imperial Way was also runner-up on his previous bumper run but has since had a modest effort over hurdles, while Chestnut Brave also merits consideration on her sole effort at Punchestown on the final day of last year. Bakmaj and, to a lesser extent, Blairs Cove have also shown up well on course ahead of what looks a wide open finale. Of the newcomers, Biennial is well-bred for his young trainer and has the master of these races booked to steer. Any support for him is respected, a comment that also applies to fellow debutants Mad Carew and Kivalina. 1. Derrinross 2. Biennial 3. Chestnut Brave
