Imperial Way was also runner-up on his previous bumper run but has since had a modest effort over hurdles, while Chestnut Brave also merits consideration on her sole effort at Punchestown on the final day of last year. Bakmaj and, to a lesser extent, Blairs Cove have also shown up well on course ahead of what looks a wide open finale. Of the newcomers, Biennial is well-bred for his young trainer and has the master of these races booked to steer. Any support for him is respected, a comment that also applies to fellow debutants Mad Carew and Kivalina.
