Tenth foal by Cacique out of Bourbonella. Slowly away and seemingly found 7f too sharp when 11th of 12 on debut at Kempton, but showed improvement stepped upto 1m1f on his next start at Wolverhampton (third has run well since). Looks sure to be suited by stepping up here an extra furlong to 1m2f.
Prominent until one paced approaching the final furlong when just over three lengths fourth on debut at Newcastle (1m) last week. This longer trip could well suit, but the overall depth of that race is open to much debate. First start on Polytrack.
Debutant. €77,000 yearling by Makfi out of Lixian who holds an Epsom Derby entry. Likely contender for powerful connections.
Third foal, and brother to middle distance Listed winner Martlet. Posted a respectable third placed effort on debut at Chelmsford earlier this month (more fancied stablemate runner up). Tounge-tied with stable jockey Robert Havlin taking over in the saddle today.
€80,000 yearling by Harbour Watch out of Renowned who holds and Epsom Derby entry. Not beaten at all far (better than placings imply) here on debut over 1m in mid November, and this step up in trip looks likely to suit on second racecourse appearance.
Debutant. Fifth foal by Champs Elysees out of Neqaawi who boasts a stamina laden pedigree. Market could be informative.
Third foal by Nathaniel out of Retake, who has finished well from off the pace on both her starts so far. Experienced over C&D, the penny seems to be slowly beginning to drop, and this is her third appearance in just under a month.
36,000 Guineas yearling by Canford Cliffs out of Tencarola. Slowly away on debut when seventh of nine in a moderate looking 1m1f maiden auction at Wolverhampton earlier this month. Up marginally in trip here with the first time blinkers applied.
Forecasts
Keswick (2/1), Fearsome (9/4), Marettimo (11/4), Caracas (8/1), Tomorrow Mystery (20/1), Dance Dan Dan (20/1), Turnpike Trip (25/1), Whirlwind Romance (33/1)
Given connections, Fearsome is the interesting newcomer here, but it could pay to side with experience with a number of those to have run showing clear signs of ability. Caracas looks guaranteed to be suited by this trip and is progressing nicely, with similar comments applicable to Tomorrow Mystery who promises to be of much interest once allocated a handicap mark. However, MARETTIMO is perhaps far better than his debut seventh placed course effort over a mile implies, and off a short break could potentially come back to this track at decent odds a much better horse for this step up in trip to ten furlongs.
1. Marettimo
2. Caracas
3. Fearsome
