Still a maiden and has a significant break to overcome so not hard to look elsewhere on this occasion.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-7| J: George Downing(3)| T: A W Carroll| OR:  52

Former pacemaker for wonder-filly Treve once upon a time. However, long-standing maiden for this yard and needs to bounce back.

Afkarp74
Age: 9|  Weight: 9-7| J: D Nolan| T: I Furtado| OR:  52
10/3
C&D winner but unplaced on last nine starts and shown virtually nothing for this yard. Tailed off last time and has plenty of questions to answer.

Blancot90
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-6| J: S J Drowne| T: George Baker| OR:  51
20/1
Unplaced on all three starts to date. Significant market support would be needed to even consider the gelding from this draw.

Pick Of Any28
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-6| J: E J Walsh(3)| T: A W Carroll| OR:  51
5/1
Unplaced on all 13 starts to date and has a horrow draw to contend with. Best effort has probably come over 6f so this trip may also stretch him.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-3| J: G Baker| T: J R Jenkins| OR:  48

Won just once in 44 starts and that came in September 2014. Seems a complicated type and unplaced on last nine starts so easy enough to avoid.

Mowhoob40
Age: 7|  Weight: 9-3| J: Joshua Bryan(7)| T: B Barr| OR:  48
25/1
Not won since June 2014. Unplaced on four starts for this yard and trainer has a poor record on the Flat so not hard to look elsewhere. Poorly drawn to boot.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-2| J: L P Keniry| T: M D I Usher| OR:  47
14/1
Improved slightly on third start when finishing sixth of nine at Wolverhampton and ran a little better last time at this course. The assessor appears to have given her some sort of chance on handicap debut but she needs to up her game here against some AW stalwarts.

The Reel Way96
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-1| J: Daniel Muscutt| T: P R Chamings| OR:  46
8/1
Still a maiden after 14 starts and unplaced on two AW starts. Opposable off the back of an absence.

Chandrayaanv6
Age: 10|  Weight: 9-1| J: R Havlin| T: J E Long| OR:  46
25/1
Hard to predict these days and unplaced on last five starts. Especially poor on last two starts and probably better over further so others hold stronger claims.

Horse silk
Abertillery44
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-1| J: David Probert| T: M Blanshard| OR:  45
25/1
Still a maiden after 17 starts and unplaced on all 14 Flat starts. Has an absence and a wide draw to overcome so best avoided for now on the face of things.

Seamoor Secrett26
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-1| J: L Morris| T: A M Hales| OR:  45

Unplaced on all 25 career starts and has a wide draw to over come. Jockey booking one of the few positives.

Birdie Must Fly13
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-1| J: Tom Marquand| T: J C Fox| OR:  45

Not beaten many home in seven starts to date. Latest when ninth of 12 at odds of 66/1.

Let It Go26
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-1| J: Aled Beech(7)| T: A W Carroll| OR:  45
66/1
Unplaced on all eight career starts. Talented claimer booked but leap of faith required if she's to be fancied for win purposes.

Forecasts

Afkar (10/3), Whaleweigh Station (7/2), Pick Of Any (5/1), Altaira (13/2), The Reel Way (8/1), Mistry (14/1), Blanco (20/1), Mowhoob (25/1), Chandrayaan (25/1), Seamoor Secret (25/1), Abertillery (25/1), Birdie Must Fly (66/1), Deftera Fantutte (66/1), Let It Go (66/1)

Verdict

Another race where Tony Carroll has three runners and it's former stablemate of Treve, ALTAIRA that gets the vote. If the break has freshened him up and he can return to the placed efforts of last summer. He may just be able to improve enough to take this. Seamoor Secret gets the services of Luke Morris and that could prove significant in a race of this type. Afkar is a previous C&D winner but needs to bounce back. 1. Altaira 2. Seamoor Secret 3. Afkar
