Flat horses to follow: Trainer Tom Clover with five to follow for the 2021 season

Rockett Man features among five horses to follow as Oli Bell gets the lowdown from Newmarket trainer Tom Clover.

ROCKETT MAN

He won a little race for us at Chelmsford, he's a five furlong horse and he was very keen when he went on to run third in a Wolverhampton handicap.

He's since been gelded and he's training nicely. Five furlongs on the turf will be right up his street, he's a half-brother to Ballesteros. He'll run plenty this year and should have races in him.

ROGUE FORCE

He won on his second start over seven furlongs at Kempton and did it nicely having had to come from off a slow pace to be second on debut at Chelmsford.

He then ran very well carrying a penalty at Lingfield last time, on a track that really didn't suit him. He was second and hit the line hard.

He ran off a mark of 84 at Newmarket on Thursday and failed to fire on what was his turf debut, but I hope he's a horse who can progress through the year over a mile, as he's from the family of Listed winner Princess Loulou.

JACK'S POINT

We bought him at the horses-in-training sales off Willie Muir and he doesn't hold many secrets but he's one for us who can go and run in those big, seven furlong handicaps through the year.

He's a gorgeous looking horse and now he's a year older (five) I'd just hoping he might be getting a bit quicker. We'll campaign him for the big handicaps and I've been pleased with him so far.

ADELITA

She ran really well first time out at Kempton and then we ran her at Lingfied and didn't like the track. She came back and scoped dirty and she probably did quite well to be fifth on the day especially as the race has worked out okay.

I was pleased to see her make a winning start to the campaign back at Lingfield earlier in the month, I do quite like her and she could now be one to follow in handicaps.

APPRECIATE

He ran once as a two-year-old in a back end maiden at Newmarket and was green as grass. He hit the rising ground at the bottom of the ground and flew home to be fourth.

He's a son of Australia, one of my favourite sires, and he's doing well. He's taken just a little while to come to hand this spring but I think he can go and will be one for middle-distances this year and into his four-year-old campaign hopefully too.
