Grand Slam of Darts: Tuesday predictions, odds, betting tips, order of play & TV times

It's the third and final round of games in Groups A-D at the Grand Slam of Darts on Tuesday night so here's our match-by-match predictions, Sky Bet odds and a suggested accumulator.

The second-round line-up will be complete after tonight as eight players from Groups A-D will advance into the knockout stages to join the likes of Rob Cross, Peter Wright and Simon Whitlock, who made it through from Groups E-H on Monday night.

James Wade and Gary Anderson have already booked their spots from C and D respectively with a game to spare but believe it or not, Michael van Gerwen still has serious work to do.

Under the match previews are my best bets, a Tuesday night treble, the running order of matches followed by the complete tournament group standings.

GROUP A

Michael van Gerwen (1/25) v Joe Murnan (10/1)

Group H Position: 2nd - 4th
Group Points: 2 - 0
Head-to-head: 5-0
2018 meetings: 0-0

Surely Michael van Gerwen isn't going to crash out prematurely of another major event this year? He may have won the Premier League & World Grand Prix but his year has so far been remembered for his failures at the the UK Open, World Matchplay, Champions League of Darts, European Championship and World Series of Darts Finals. On Sunday night he was averaging over his world record mark of 123.40 when leading Jonny Clayton but went on to miss three match darts, ending a 22-match winning streak in this tournament. I can't see Joe Murnan winning, but you never know in this crazy world of darts.

Prediction: 5-2

Jonny Clayton (1/2) v Gary Robson (13/8)

Group H Position: 1st - 3rd
Group Points: 4 - 2
Head-to-head: N/A

Jonny Clayton came into this event with question marks over his form but now he's on a roll following that stunning win over MVG. Only a wide margin of defeat to Gary Robson, who produced a memorable comeback against Murnan to stay alive, would potentially knock him out but if he takes his foot off the gas, maybe the BDO veteran has a chance of the win.

Prediction: 3-5

Standings

  1. Jonny Clayton P 2 W 2 L 0 LegDiff +4 Pts 4
  2. (1) Michael van Gerwen P 2 W 1 L 1 LegDiff +3 Pts 2
  3. Gary Robson P 2 W 1 L 1 LegDiff -3 Pts 2
  4. Joe Murnan P 2 W 0 L 2 LegDiff -4 Pts 0

GROUP B

Krzysztof Ratajski (1/2) v Adam Smith-Neale (13/8)

Group H Position: 2nd - 4th
Group Points: 2 - 0
Head-to-head: 1-0
2018 meetings: 1-0

Krzysztof Ratajski was widely earmarked as a dangerous outsider before the tournament due to his recent title-winning exploits on the ProTour and he could so easily be two wins from two had Smith not 13-darted him in Sunday's deciding leg. However, don't write off 2018 World Masters champion Adam Smith-Neale, who looks a spot of value here. He came agonisingly close to beating Raymond van Barneveld when blowing four match darts but he has the ability to get a win that would give him a glimmer of hope.

Prediction: 3-5

Michael Smith (8/11) v Raymond van Barneveld (11/10)

Group H Position: 1st - 3rd
Group Points: 4 - 2
Head-to-head: 6-7 (1 draw)
2018 meetings: 1-0 (1 draw)

Raymond van Barneveld was on the brink of early elimination on Sunday night but lives to fight another day after surviving those four match darts from Smith-Neale. Barney must realistically win this clash to stand a chance - although a narrow defeat might be enough if Smith-Neale hammers Krzysztof Ratajski - but Michael Smith will have no intention of taking his foot off the gas if his qualification isn't already sealed.

Standings

  1. (8) Michael Smith P 2 W 2 L 0 LegDiff +3 Pts 4
  2. Krzysztof Ratajski P 2 W 1 L 1 LegDiff +1 Pts 2
  3. Raymond van Barneveld P 2 W 1 L 1 LegDiff -1 Pts 2
  4. Adam Smith-Neale (BDO) P 2 W 0 L 2 LegDiff -3 Pts 0

GROUP C

James Wade (1/3) v Mark Webster (23/10)

Group C Position: 1st - 4th
Group Points: 4 - 0
Head-to-head: 16-9
2018 meetings: 2-0

James Wade, the recently crowned winner of the European Championship and World Series of Darts Finals, has now won 12 matches on the trot during this stunning purple patch and looked mightly impressive last time out with an average of 105 and three 100+ checkouts. He should pick off the already-eliminated Mark Webster to end the group campaign with an 100% record.

Prediction: 5-2

Keegan Brown (8/13) v Wesley Harms (5/4)

Group H Position: 2nd - 3rd
Group Points: 2 - 2
Head-to-head: N/A

The equation is simple - the winner goes through and almost certainly as runner-up behind James Wade. Keegan Brown produced a fine performance against the Machine but it'll be hard for him to reproduce those levels against Wesley Harms, who showed fighting spirit to bounce back from his heavy defeat to Wade on Saturday. I really think the BDO man is worth siding with in this short format.

Prediction: 3-5

Standings

  1. (5) James Wade P 2 W 2 L 0 LegDiff +7 Pts 4
  2. Keegan Brown P 2 W 1 L 1 LegDiff -1 Pts 2
  3. Wesley Harms (BDO) P 2 W 1 L 1 LegDiff -3 Pts 2
  4. Mark Webster P 2 W 0 L 2 LegDiff -3 Pts 0

GROUP D

Gary Anderson (1/9) v Steve Hine (11/2)

Group D Position: 1st - 4th
Group Points: 4 - 0
Head-to-head: 4-2
2018 meetings: 1-0

Gary Anderson rubbed salt into Michael van Gerwen's wounds by hitting seven 180s and averaging 112.54 in his win over Ian White, which followed the Dutchman's shock defeat to Jonny Clayton. Can't see anything other than a Flying Scotsman win again.

Prediction: 5-2

Ian White (1/2) v Michael Unterbuchner (13/8)

Group D Position: 2nd - 3rd
Group Points: 2 - 2
Head-to-head: N/A

Michael Unterbuchner is one of the BDO's best chances of reaching the knockout stages but he'll need to be ruthless on his doubles again to beat Ian White. He hit five of his seven attempts in a 5-2 victory over Steve Hine, averaging 97, but the pressure will be on another level tonight. Diamond has plenty of experience and one heavy defeat against an inspired Anderson shouldn't count against him.

Prediction: 5-3

Standings

  1. (4) Gary Anderson P 2 W 2 L 0 LegDiff +7 Pts 4
  2. Ian White P 2 W 1 L 1 LegDiff 0 Pts 2
  3. Michael Unterbuchner (BDO) P 2 W 1 L 1 LegDiff 0 Pts 2
  4. Steve Hine P 2 W 0 L 2 LegDiff -7 Pts 0

Tuesday night's suggested darts bets

  • Smith-Neale to beat Ratajski at 13/8
  • Harms to beat Brown at 5/4
  • Clayton v Robson to have over 7-5 legs, checkout of 111.5+ and over 3.5 180s at 9/2
