Darts results: Beau Greaves makes history by becoming the first woman to win a PDC ranking title

Beau Greaves made yet more history in her remarkable career by becoming the first woman to to win a PDC ranking title

And the 22-year-old sensation from Doncaster did it in style too with a show-stopping 142 checkout in the deciding leg of the Players Championship 11 final against Michael Smith to triumph 8-7.

Greaves also defeated two other former World Champions en route to the title as she claimed 6-5 and 7-1 victories over Rob Cross and Gary Anderson respectively, both with 100+ averages.

Greaves is competing as a PDC Tour Card holder for the first time this year and back in February she also became the first woman to hit a nine-darter on the circuit.

Many have tipped her to achieve these kind of milestones due to her tremendous talent and rich potential that has seen her dominate the women's game for several years, but perhaps not quite so soon.

Late last year, the trailblazing three-time WDF Women's World Champion and two-time PDC Women's World Matchplay champion went viral for a sensational 6-5 victory over Luke Littler in the World Youth Championship semi-finals, although she'd ultimately finish runner-up to Gian van Veen.

Greaves averaged 98.13 across her seven games and afterwards said: "Today I played really well. I’m so happy. I cannot even describe the way I feel.

“I don’t know whether I just thought about being the first woman to win a [ProTour] title but it caught up with me, so I honestly cannot believe I took out that 142!

“It’s unbelievable. I feel so proud of myself, because I was really struggling at the start of the year.

“Aside from winning the Lakeside, this is probably my best achievement ever. I never ever thought I’d win one of these!

“I’ve done really well on all the other tours. I know I’ve got the talent, but believing in yourself and having the confidence is another thing.

“I’m beating players I was watching growing up. I'm in disbelief! Now hopefully I can kick on and keep doing it, but it’s an amazing feeling.”

Greaves began her campaign with 6-4 wins over Aden Kirk and Thomas Lovely before sweeping aside Jeffrey Sparidaans and Karel Sedlacek to reach a third consecutive Players Championship quarter-final.

The Doncaster ace produced a sparkling 102.56 average to edge past Cross - who averaged almost 106 in defeat - thanks to an 11-dart break of throw in a last-leg decider while she upped that to a sensational 105.56 when reeling off seven successive legs against Anderson.

Greaves managed five in a row from 2-0 down against Smith and later pulled out a 170 checkout to put herself two legs from glory.

Smith won three legs on the spin to level the contest at 6-6 and although Bully Boy left himself double 10 for his first ranking title in two years, he wouldn't have a chance to hit it as Greaves landed a stunning 142 checkout on double 11.
