The 11-year-old won well from the front on heavy ground on Saturday beating Spare Brakes (runs in the 4.25) 2¼L, well in command in the closing stages. The gelding can hold off the attentions of the Edward O'Grady-trained Shakeytry who has posted a number of solid and consistent efforts since the turn of the year. Course winner, Niccolai and the J P McManus-owned Weihnachts both appear capable of hitting the frame.
