Verdict

The obvious selection would be the admirable Captain Lars who has mopped up in these type of contests since joining Archie Watson in early 2018. However, he has probably been done few favours by this fixture being switched away from Southwell (0-2 at Gosforth Park). Therefore, in the interests of a sporting bet he's taken on with the filly HARPERELLE. She's clearly no star and would struggle to win a handicap off a mark of 73, but she did acquit herself reasonably well on her previous visit to Newcastle (on debut) and theoretically holds every chance at the weights in receipt of 22lb from the top-weight (when factoring in riders claims).
