Verdict

ROYAL RESERVE has made a broadly pleasing start for David O'Meara, and arguably should have been able to build upon his stable debut success at Wolverhampton last month. He looked particularly unlucky when badly hampered at Newcastle on Ladies Day, but still got to within just over a length of Archipeligo. There is no denying that he was disappointing at Ripon on Monday, but with better odds likely he deserves one final chance before the new stable effect completely wears off. Of the remainder, Spiritofhayton should be better upped in trip with last week's Hamilton reappearance under his belt, and Akkadian Empire should go well for Iain Jardine if as effective on a softer surface.
