Opened chase account at Wincanton in November and doubled tally in another small-field affair at Stratford in March. Rare poor effort at latter track 2 months later and off since, leaving Suzy Smith in that time. More likely than not to bounce back given overall profile.

Notched 2½m handicap chase double last summer. In good form when twice runner-up behind upwardly-mobile winners in May, latterly long way ahead of Lermoos Legend at Worcester and he stayed 23f well when occupying same spot 18 days ago.

Won twice around this time last year, including over C&D and also fourth in this race. Left the impression he should have finished closer still when third of 6 in handicap chase at Cartmel in July and pair of runner-up efforts since confirm he's in top form.

Hasn't always looked the most straightforward but has a fine strike rate in handicaps, winning 5 times overall over hurdles. Didn't look happy from a long way out at Newton Abbot in June and off since but he's had a breathing operation and the assessor has given him a big chance back chasing.

Forecasts
American Land (9/4), Tapley (5/2), Lermoos Legend (5/2), Jet Smart (7/2)
A case can be made for all 4 but a chance is taken on AMERICAN LAND, who goes back chasing from an exploitable mark on the back of a breathing operation. Lermoos Legend is in fine form so should be bang there again.
