Signed off for 2025 with victory in 10-runner handicap at Kempton (7f) last September. Likely beaten by more than his 11-month absence given the stable he hails from at Southwell (7f) recently and this should reveal where he's at.

Consistent despite a modest strike rate and put it all together when getting up close home in 14-runner event at Lingfield (1¼m) in April. Has held form since, fourth of 6 at Salisbury (1¼m, good) most recently. Sound each-ways claims. 1 of 2 for this yard.

Hard to knock his consistency and gained a deserved win at Kempton in April. Seems to be building back up to something this summer, third of 8 at the same course (1m) most recently. In the mix once more. 1 of 2 for this yard.

Dual winner on all-weather last year for Karl Burke. Back on track on his second outing for this yard when sixth of 15 at Goodwood (9f, good to firm) last month and remains competitively treated if able to build on that returned to all-weather.

Has eased in the weights this year and confirmed the promise of his Windsor run when winning 7-runner event at Brighton just over a fortnight ago, needing almost every inch of a bare 7f. Nudged up just 3 lb and should remain competitive back up in trip.

Ended 2025 with back-to-back 7f/1m wins at Leicester and Newcastle and returned with runner-up efforts in handicaps at Southwell and Ascot first 2 starts this year. Back to her optimum trip but not seen to best effect at Goodwood (1m) just under 6 weeks ago and she's respected back on all-weather.

Course winner who began the season with victory at Kempton (7f) in May and back to that level when second at Southwell in July. Probably in better heart than recent form figures suggest and has his first start beyond 1m here. Each-way player.

Matched his 2025 best and just failed to notch a first handicap success when second of 8 at Newmarket (1½m, good to firm) when last seen 11 months ago. Has since moved yards (40,000 gns) and watching brief advised on return/all-weather debut.

Gained a fourth all-weather success of his career when seeing off 12 rivals at Southwell (1m) in April. Turned in a rare poor effort in first-time cheekpieces the following month and hasn't been seen since.

Consistent sort who recorded his fifth career success in 6-runner event at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) in July, deserving extra credit for passing the others in a finish that tested speed over stamina. Can make presence felt off 5 lb higher.

Back on track having been gelded when successful over 1m at Lingfield last September. Ran a couple of shockers for new connections in May (changed hands 50,000 gns) but showed a good deal more without making him of immediate interest when sixth at Chester in July.

Back to winning ways here in April and in good form subsequently until only sixth of 9 at Brighton (1m, good) last month. No surprise to see this C&D scorer bounce back.

Song N Dance (7/2), Dixieland Blues (7/2), Knights Gold (5/1), Commander Of Life (6/1), Londoner (8/1), First Ambition (9/1), Helm Rock (10/1), Chalk Mountain (14/1), Newfangled (16/1), Patricia R (20/1), Indian Spirit (33/1), Studious (33/1), Houstonn (50/1)

Verdict

Cases can be made for several of these but the most persuasive is for COMMANDER OF LIFE, who was value extra when regaining the winning thread at Doncaster in July and Jessica Macey's 5-y-o can make light of a subsequent 5 lb rise in the weights. His main threat may emerge from Knights Gold, who won at Brighton recently and should benefit from this return to further. Londoner edges the vote over stablemate Helm Rock for third.
