Steadily found his feet for current yard this year, building on previous promise when scoring over C&D in March. Again ran creditably when third of 13 in handicap (5/1) at Southwell (7f) 44 days ago. Looks competitive on form.
Ran well plenty of times in the first few months of the year, including when winning over C&D in February, but edging down the weights without showing much sign of taking advantage recently.
Has a good record at Ripon and proved better than ever when winning a 9-runner event there (1m) early in July. Reverted to his old habit of racing too freely there 12 days later and simply ran below form when failing to beat a rival at Thirsk 3 weeks ago.
Doesn't possess the greatest of strike rates but made the frame at Southwell in July and went down by only a neck in a 9-runner handicap at Epsom (7f, firm) 22 days ago. Respected with good-value claimer back aboard.
Dual winner last summer for Michael Appleby. Produced easily his most encouraging effort for this yard when seventh of 12 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, firm, 7/1) 21 days ago, despite looking in need of a stronger gallop. Very well treated if able to build on that.
C&D scorer made more of an impact off reduced mark when third at Southwell in July and was unable to adopt his usual prominent pitch after a slow start there 3 weeks later. Others make greater appeal overall.
Three-time winner here for David Thompson, including in October and November, and produced a career-best effort having rejoined his owner's yard to win a 9-runner handicap at this C&D 36 days ago by 3½ lengths from Finn Ironside. That race rather fell apart, so this might be tougher after 7 lb rise.
C&D winner in December and ran better than for a while from a disadvantageous position when fourth of 10 in handicap at Musselburgh (7f, good to firm, 16/1) 11 days ago. Return to this track should suit, for all that he's never been the easiest to score with.
C&D winner last August and arrives here after a couple of solid efforts, most recently when 3½ lengths second of 9 to Coramento in handicap at this C&D (10/3) 36 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals.

Forecasts
War Howl (5/4), Benacre (6/1), Anthropologist (7/1), Finn Ironside (15/2), Coramento (15/2), Blazing Son (14/1), Gressington (18/1), Jesmond Dawn (18/1), Red Mirage (18/1)
Top-weight ANTHROPOLOGIST looks a solid option on the back of a couple of good in-frame efforts at Southwell. War Howl is very interesting from such a low mark if able to build on a more encouraging effort at Doncaster, whilst Coramento was seen to good effect when scoring here 5 weeks ago but can't be discounted after a 7 lb rise.
