Justified strong support when resuming winning ways in 1½m handicap here (11/4) in January, helped by the way the race developed. Progressed again when collared dying strides from a 4 lb higher mark a month later and of interest back from a 6-month absence with yard firmly amongst the winners.

Wide-margin winner at Southwell (1¾m) in October and returned with good runner-up efforts there in April. Ran best race on turf when narrowly denied in 5-runner Newmarket handicap (2m) in June but ran poorly in first-time blinkers at Leicester latest. Bounce back required in refitted cheekpieces.
Showed improved form to get off the mark in 4-runner 1½m handicap at Chepstow in July for Andrew Balding. Made a satisfactory start for current connections despite hanging right when 2½ lengths third of 4 in 1¾m at Sandown but was below form in a better race since.
Improved for much longer trip when making a successful handicap/seasonal debut at Southwell (1½m) in June. Seemed to find the run coming too soon at Yarmouth 8 days later and wasted no time getting back on track in first-time cheekpieces when second at Leicester (1½m) 13 days ago. Player.
Sir Percy gelding who showed ability when fifth of eighth in a strong 11f maiden at Newbury in April. Still in need of the experience both starts since and rates a likely improver now stepping up in trip on handicap debut.
Fair maiden who ran his worst race to date when sixth in 7-runner handicap at Chepstow (1½m, good to firm, 7/1) 16 days ago. Needs to bounce back in first-time cheekpieces.

Forecasts
Hebridean Nomad (6/4), Mountbatten (3/1), Betelgeuse (9/2), Virtue Diligence (8/1), Last Trump (10/1), Last Verse (10/1)
LAST TRUMP looks to have got into handicaps on a handy mark judged on the strength of his debut form, so he's put forward as the answer with the longer trip likely to suit. Hebridean Nomad was in good form when last seen at the beginning of the year and is an obvious danger returning from a 6-month absence with his yard very much among the winners. Mountbatten also merits consideration.
