Wilmot-Smith Memorial Handicap

A 3-time winner last year. Slipped in the weights and right back on song with cosy victory in 7-runner handicap at C&D in June. Couldn't get to the front after missing the kick slightly when third of 6 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good) 27 days ago. Worth another chance.

One-time smart veteran hasn't scored since 2023 but was runner-up in 2 handicaps in Bahrain over the winter. Little impact on in 2 starts back on these shores this summer but handicapper has cut him a bit more slack.

Returned to best when winning 20-runner 6f handicap at York in May and backed that up with a creditable fourth at the same course the following month. Another good effort when second of 9 in handicap at Ayr (6f, firm) 14 days ago and he can go well again after 2 lb rise.

Formerly smart sprinter who showed more encouragement after a breathing operation and stable switch when second at Ascot (6f) in May. Hasn't built on that either start since, only really getting going once the race was over when fifth of 7 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good to firm) 17 days ago.

Scored twice in 2025 campaign that also saw him post several good efforts in big-field handicaps. Creditable third at Ayr on his penultimate start and was patently unsuited by a switch to front-running tactics at York last time.

Useful 5f winner at 2 yrs. Yet to match that form this season though, albeit shaping a little bit better on debut for this yard (formerly trained by the Faheys) when fourth of 7 in handicap (16/1) at Chester (6f, good to firm) 9 days ago. Others still preferred.

Enhanced fine record at Newcastle with back-to-back wins to start this year. Good effort when close third at C&D in May but has finished well beaten on his last 3 outings, albeit poorly drawn at York on latest.
