Went from strength to strength last year, 2-2 here and completing 5-timer in Royal Ascot Group 2 before running with credit in defeat in Irish St Leger/Breeders' Cup Turf. Well below par on York return but ran a lot better when 4¾ lengths sixth to Giavellotto in Hardwicke at Royal Ascot. Up in trip.

Won 1¾m Copper Horse at 2025 Royal Ascot and went close to a second win at that meeting when worried out of it by Illinois in Queen Alexandra (21.6f, good to firm) last month. Plenty to find at this level.
|
Second in the Gold Cup and this race (beaten ¾ length by Scandinavia) last year. Took advantage of a drop in class when edging out French Master in Queen Alexandra at Royal Ascot but well beaten in the Curragh Cup only 9 days ago.
|
Placed in the Derby at Epsom and Irish Derby at the Curragh last year. Built on encouraging reappearance third at Sandown with a listed win there (2m, good) 25 days ago. The opposition here is much tougher but he could have more to offer as a stayer and goes in first-time cheekpieces.

Just failed to reel in Scandinavia in last year's St Leger. Notched a first pattern success in Yorkshire Cup (1¾m) on reappearance and seemingly failed to stay 2½m when well behind Scandinavia and Trawlerman in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. A bare 2m should be fine, though.

Took this race last year before wrapping up his campaign with victory in the St Leger. Has picked up where he left off by winning all 3 starts this season, notably edging out Trawlerman in a thrilling Gold Cup at Royal Ascot (2½m, good to firm). Will continue to be hard to beat.
|
Dominated the staying division last year and ran right up to his best when edged out by Scandinavia in Gold Cup at Royal Ascot (2½m, good to firm) on reappearance. Didn't take in this race last year but his previous Goodwood visit resulted in a win at the 2022 Glorious meeting. Sure to go well.
|
Ended 2025 with a 2m listed success at Newmarket. Second in York Group 3 in May before excellent 10¾ lengths fifth of 11 to Scandinavia and Trawlerman in Gold Cup at Royal Ascot (2½m, good to firm). Blinkers go on but surely playing for minor honours at best with that pair in opposition again.

Forecasts
Scandinavia (6/5), Trawlerman (13/8), Amiloc (17/2), Rahiebb (14/1), Lazy Griff (18/1), Illinois (25/1), French Master (33/1), Miss Alpilles (80/1)
A mouthwatering rematch between SCANDINAVIA and Trawlerman, with Aidan O'Brien's charge fancied to confirm Ascot Gold Cup form with the 8-y-o and make it 7 wins in a row and back-to-back victories in the Goodwood Cup. Lazy Griff, who goes in first-time cheekpieces, could have more to offer as a stayer and is the each-way selection.
