Form figures over hurdles at this course read 122 and arrives on the back of a creditable 7½ lengths second in veteran chase at this track in late-May. Drop back in distance isn't ideal returned to hurdling, but he should still give his running.

Borderline useful novice hurdler in 2024, winning both starts at Cheltenham. Has shaped as if in good form over fences this year and no surprise to see him back over hurdles following a mixed round of jumping last time. Interesting with blinkers added for first start in a handicap in this sphere.

Useful hurdler/chaser at his best. No show last season but hinted at a revival when third in Bangor handicap chase on the back of another breathing operation latest. Reverts to hurdling on lowest mark in years and may well capitalise in a change of headgear.

Winner of back-to-back maiden/novice races over C&D last summer and went close in handicap hurdle at Haydock over the winter. Returns to hurdling off 4 lb higher following narrow success in small-field chase at this track last time.

Notched third win for Warren Greatrex in C&D handicap last May. Sold out of that yard for only £10,000 following a limp effort in listed company at Sandown in early-January and hardly a positive that first-time tongue strap goes on for stable debut.

Sole win came at this distance in novice handicap at Down Royal last May. Still to be asked for effort when falling 4 out in Roscommon claimer latest when fitted with a tongue strap (retained) for the first time, and weighted to be competitive on last summer's form.

Winner of 21f maiden at Haydock for James Ewart last spring. Improved in cheekpieces for current yard, making amends for a near miss at Market Rasen (traded 1.01 in running) with a decisive win at Hexham (2m) last time. Going the right way and can make a bold bid back up in trip.

Ground out a third win from his last 8 starts in Class 2 handicap at Uttoxeter last time. Career-high mark likely to prevent up a follow up, though.

Completed a double in 2½m mares handicap at Aintree in May (form working out well). Narrowly denied hat-trick at Uttoxeter (23f) subsequently, but she's probably vulnerable off 4 lb higher in a higher grade.

Veteran who showed plenty of ability remains when third at Hexham on return. Entitled to come on for that run, but this is a stronger race than he need contest nowadays.

Veteran who capitalised on a reduced mark when making a convincing winning return over C&D last month. Clearly goes well fresh (won same race on reappearance in 2024), and she's probably worth taking on off 8 lb higher in a stronger race.

Nearly made it a quick-fire course double for the second consecutive season in May. Sent off at much longer odds when well below that form over C&D last time though, and Sean Quinlan now looks elsewhere.

Frustrating sort who placed in higher grade at Kelso last season. Change of tactics/headgear saw him overdo things over C&D on latest start. Since undergone a breathing operation and profile suggests he isn't one for maximum faith.

Forecasts

High Dancer (5/2), Caughtinyourtrance (9/2), Oakley (11/2), Belles Benefit (15/2), Roaring Home (8/1), Peaky Boy (10/1), Tommie Beau (14/1), Rauzan (16/1), Homme Public (16/1), Evenwood Sonofagun (20/1), Shantwopointfive (20/1), Dinons (28/1), Howdoyalikeherhome (40/1)

Verdict

Once-useful HOMME PUBLIC may be able to capitalise on a much-reduced mark on return to hurdles. He's narrowly preferred to High Dancer, who's an improved model for the Nicky Richards yard. Peaky Boy also looks interesting, returning to hurdles for the first time since his unbeaten (2-2) novice season.
