Gary Hubball's 60th Celebration Year Novices' Handicap Chase

Off time: 15:00 | Winning time: 5m 29.87s

Laffer Curve^p1²¹

Age: 5| Weight: 12-0| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 100

4/1

Lightly-raced 5-y-o who showed promise over hurdles. Had a breathing operation and would have pushed the winner much closer but for getting 4 out all wrong on chase debut at Worcester (2½m). Pulled up at Hexham since but given another chance back on more conventional track. Cheekpieces go on.

Form: 4334-2P

Artiste D'ainay^t¹¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-12| J: James Bowen| T: Billy Aprahamian| OR: 98

10/3

Point winner who cashed in on a lowly mark on second start for this yard in hurdle at Southwell in June. Weakened quickly at Worcester since. Makes chase debut.

Form: P31-517

My Lovely Horse^p²⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 10-3| J: James Turner⁽⁵⁾| T: D G Bridgwater| OR: 75

22/1

Remains with little form in a bumper and varied events over hurdles, sixth of 7 in 3m handicap at Uttoxeter (23f, good to soft) 29 days ago. Hardly an obvious one to make a winning start to her chase career.

Form: 6P3P8-6

Frankie Faulkner^t,v1⁶⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 10-2| J: Conor Ring| T: Mrs C Williams| OR: 73

15/2

Well treated on the form he showed when runner-up in handicap chases last autumn but needs to shrug off lesser efforts on his last 2 outings. Visor now the headgear of choice.

Form: 8/2237-7

Shuile Warrior⁸⁵

Age: 8| Weight: 10-2| J: Paddy Hanlon⁽⁵⁾| T: Simon Edwards| OR: 73

12/1

Point winner but has achieved decidedly little under Rules to date, pulling up on chase debut at Bangor when last seen 12 weeks ago.

Form: 1/2595P-

Rockvale^t¹⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 10-2| J: R T Dunne| T: S Allwood| OR: 73

3/1

Maiden but 21f Uttoxeter chase second in May shows he can be competitive from his mark. Pulled up at Worcester next time but latest Bangor fourth more like it.

Form: 9/86-2P4

Miss Pearl^t1³¹

Age: 10| Weight: 10-2| J: Shane Fenelon⁽⁵⁾| T: D A Rees| OR: 72

9/1

Maiden hurdler who has reached the frame on both starts belatedly switched to fences this summer. More will be needed it she's to get her head in front from 2 lb out of the weights, though.

Form: 558/743

Citizen Jane¹³

Age: 7| Weight: 10-2| J: Brendan Powell| T: Mrs L Hill| OR: 71

6/1

Point scorer. Winless over hurdles and beaten 20 lengths when second on 19f course chase debut, although the winner has gone in again since. 3 lb out of handicap.

Form: 2P/11-42

Non-Runners

Aslukgoes²

Weight: 11-13| Age: 8

T: M Bowen J: Non Runner

Royal Time⁵²

Weight: 11-8| Age: 7

T: Christian Williams J: Jack Tudor

Forecasts

Aslukgoes (9/4), Rockvale (3/1), Artiste D'ainay (10/3), Laffer Curve (4/1), Citizen Jane (6/1), Frankie Faulkner (15/2), Royal Time (8/1), Miss Pearl (9/1), Shuile Warrior (12/1), My Lovely Horse (22/1)

Dan Skelton's LAFFER CURVE possibly simply failed to take to Hexham last time and is given another chance with headgear added now. Rockvale has been a bit in and out so far but is capable of going well from his basement mark if in the mood. Aslukgoes would be interesting if turning up after/instead of Worcester on Friday.
