Successful twice this spring, making all in 4-runner event at Catterick for his latest success in May. Raced too freely when sixth of 7 at Goodwood 12 days ago, but no surprise to see him bounce back with cheekpieces refitted instead of blinkers.

Raced only twice (over hurdles) in 2025, but ran well after 13-month absence when third in 1¾m handicap at Salisbury in May. Ran well for a long way up with strong pace when fifth of 8 on testing ground at Goodwood 19 days ago. Drop back in trip no issue.

Has been holding his form well this season, second of 6 at Salisbury 17 days ago with the winner going on to follow up. Can give another good account with blinkers replacing cheekpieces.

Bounced back to form on third start for the yard when second in 7-runner handicap at Windsor (11.4f) in May. Failed to repeat that effort over 1¼m at Beverley later the same month, but return to this trip promises to suit.

Made a winning return for the second year running when seeing off 8 rivals over 1¼m on all-weather at Lingfield in April. Below form both starts since, though, getting going too late when fourth of 10 at Leicester 23 days ago. Now tries this trip for the first time.

Has enjoyed a productive year fitted with a visor switched to handicaps, making it 3 wins from 4 starts in 5-runner contest at Doncaster 11 days ago (runner-up won next time). Can make his presence felt once again.

Confirmed promise of first 2 starts when winning 4-runner maiden at Pontefract (1¼m) early in June, looking suited by the stiff track as she got the better of the odds-on favourite. Looks to have been handed a lenient mark and the one to beat upped to a trip sure to suit.

Won 1m all-weather novices on first 2 starts. Wasn't able to continue his progress on handicap debut at this course in April, but ran well over 10.3f when fifth of 10 at Chester the following month. Could still have more to offer upped further in trip.

Surprise winner on debut at Newbury (6f) last summer but hasn't kicked on since, finishing down the field in 7f/1m handicaps this season. Bred to stay this longer trip but has something to prove.

Fair form in varied events so far, returning from 6 months off when fifth of 12 in 1¼m handicap at Salisbury in May. Entitled to strip fitter for the run and this step up in trip could unlock extra based on pedigree.

Forecasts

Alma Latina (13/8), Arcturus Flame (7/2), Tabasko (11/2), Central Command (6/1), Analogical (9/1), Mr Freedom (18/1), Double Red (22/1), Sir William (22/1), Timber Twelve (28/1), Electrical (66/1)

Verdict

ALMA LATINA took a step foward when getting off the mark at Pontefract on her third start and, with further improvement to come upped in trip, she looks to hold strong claims on handicap debut. The biggest threat could come from Central Command, winner of 3 handicaps already this season, with Sir William completing the shortlist.
