Expert Eye gelding who showed ability when fourth on debut in a Southwell novice before possibly finding the race coming too soon when well held last of 7 at Ripon (11f) 6 weeks ago. Given time ahead of this but no easy task once more conceding weight all round.

Australia filly who offered little making a belated debut in a Wetherby maiden (1¼m, good to firm) 4 weeks ago. Low-grade handicaps will be more her bag further down the line.

Kameko colt who has finished placed on all 3 starts this season, not quicken final 1f when third in a Windsor novice (1¼m, good to firm) 15 days ago. Remains open to improvement, particularly over further but he's a leading player here, nevertheless.

Showcasing colt who makes appeal on paper and shaped like he'd derive plenty from his debut fourth in a Lingfield maiden (1m) 4 weeks ago (going in snatches). Better to come.

Boasts a good pedigree and promising start when third in a heavy ground maiden at Newbury in October. Not in same form when fourth at Newcastle the following month but she remains very much the type to do better as a 3-y-o now tackling a longer trip. Interesting.

Space Blues filly. Closely related to 1½m winner Bay Colony and half-sister to useful 7f winner You Send Me and 1m winner Gerry's Way. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to smart/ungenuine 2-y-o 7f winner Jacqueline Quest. Pedigree offers plenty of hope so one to note in the betting for clues.

Verdict

Having shaped with definite promise when third on debut at Newbury in the autumn, HOSEKI may have found the race coming too soon when fourth at Newcastle on her final outing in November. In top hands and very much the type to be suited by this step up in trip as a 3-y-o, she could be worthy of siding with on seasonal bow. Cape Fear has showed more than enough to think a race of this nature is within reach and is an obvious danger. Champion Lawman is another sure-fire improver.
