Career best when winning over C&D last August, but wasn't seen to best effect (broke slowly from a wide stall) when eighth of 11 at Chester 17 days ago after 9 months off. Returns to the scene of that previous success and holds leading claims.

Now with his third trainer in 2026 and followed a below-par effort at Newbury in April with an even worse one 16 days ago, finishing last of 28 at Ascot (150/1). Steps up significantly in trip in first-time tongue strap, but hard to be positive about his chances.

Won at Wolverhampton in March when showing a good attitude and boasting a gradually progressive profile, but looking a hard ride (possibly amiss) in April at Newcastle, and produced another lacklustre effort 11 days ago. Has something to prove now.

Without a win since 2023 but hit the frame in 3 top-end handicaps (including Royal Hunt Cup) before losing his way towards the end of last year. Could only run to a similar level as reappearance when fourth of 11 at Ascot 24 days ago. Shaped as if needing further than 1m, and gets that here.

Ran creditably on return from 6 months off when fourth of 9 at Redcar, but did so in rather laboured fashion, and had every chance but weakened late to finish sixth of 9 at Chester 18 days ago. Tongue strap re-applied but has an inconsistent profile.

Forecasts

Auld Toon Loon (5/2), Greek Order (11/4), Seagolazo (4/1), First Principle (4/1), Merveilleux Lapin (5/1), Urban Glimpse (7/1), Serengeti (50/1)

Verdict

AULD TOON LOON returns to the scene of his career-best win over C&D last August and, despite not being seen to best effect following a slow start on his return from 9 months off, he should be sharper now. Urban Glimpse looked rusty on his return 23 days ago but is entitled to improve, while the step back up in trip should suit Greek Order, who has some strong form last year in top-end handicaps.
