Port Of Blyth Novices' Handicap Chase

Off time: 18:50 | Winning time: 5m 20.28s

Scairp Dubh^p¹⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 12-0| J: Danny McMenamin| T: J Parkinson & S Smith| OR: 99| CD

6/5

Made a successful debut over fences in 13-runner C&D handicap (good) 17 days ago, staying on to lead close home. Has the potential for better so a 3 lb rise doesn't look enough to stop him.

Tell Me Again¹⁷

Age: 8| Weight: 11-10| J: C O'Farrell| T: Micky Hammond| OR: 95

14/1

Looked very limited in Ireland but didn't get the chance to show whether he can do better for new yard over C&D 17 days ago, hampered and unseating at the fourth. The fact he was a 33/1 shot doesn't suggest confidence was high, though.

Form: 00/P33-U

Passengerontheship^t¹⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 10-11| J: R P McLernon| T: S England| OR: 82

9/2

Runner-up 3 times in handicap hurdles last spring. Travelled well but didn't find for pressure when sixth on 2½m Newcastle chase debut in March. Possible excuses when pulled up over 3m here since. The first-time tongue tie he wore on that occasion is retained.

Form: 222/86-P

Out On Her Own^h1³⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 10-8| J: Ryan Mania| T: Mrs Dianne Sayer| OR: 79

85/40

Placed in handicap hurdles this spring, including over 2m here last time. A point win provides hope that she'll take to fences. Hooded for the first time. Enters calculations.

Form: 575223-

Gone With The Tide^p²⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 10-3| J: Joe Williamson| T: Mrs A C Hamilton| OR: 74

20/1

Irish point winner but little form over hurdles for current yard. It remains to be seen whether a switch to fences sparks an upturn in her fortunes.

Form: 94/PPP9-

Reliance Kid^t1³⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 10-2| J: Callum Bewley| T: A Wilson| OR: 73

16/1

Has promised more than he's delivered in a pair of 3m handicaps here since switching to fences and it's possible a drop back in trip and addition of a tongue strap will help him to find more where it matters.

Form: 7/990P9-

Forecasts

Scairp Dubh (6/5), Out On Her Own (85/40), Passengerontheship (9/2), Tell Me Again (14/1), Lewa House (14/1), Reliance Kid (16/1), Gone With The Tide (20/1)

This looks a good chance for SCAIRP DUBH to follow up his chase debut success over C&D at the beginning of the month. The chief threat may come from Dianne Sayer's Out On Her Own, who has been knocking at the door in handicap hurdles and a point background provides hope that she'll take to fences.
