Aspect Island28
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: Oisin Murphy| T: James Owen| OR:  106
Took a big step forward to get off the mark on nursery bow at Yarmouth in September before showing better form in defeat in stronger company, including when third in Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Del Mar. Not disgraced faced with a stiff task on Newmarket return and this is more suitable.

Knew a lot more than on debut when landing a few bets in 6f maiden at Newbury in September. Proved too free in a listed event here on final start last year but resumed his progress in no uncertain terms dropped in trip when making a successful return in 5f Newbury handicap. More to come.

Boston Dan28
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: O J Orr| T: R A Fahey| OR:  95| D
Useful juvenile who opened his account in a 5f Hamilton maiden in September. Found only one too good in a 6f course listed event in October before bombing out on heavy ground at Doncaster. Shaped as if needing the run on handicap debut/reappearance at Newmarket and this will reveal more.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: Shane Gray| T: K A Ryan| OR:  100| D
Useful juvenile who backed up his Musselburgh debut win with several solid efforts in better company, including when 1¾ lengths third of 10 to Revival Power in Flying Childers at Doncaster (5f) on final start. Has a bit to find with that rival, though, and it remains to be seen if he's trained on.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: Ashley Lewis| T: G Harris| OR:  95| D
Doncaster novice winner at 2 yrs who got firmly back on track when making all in 5f handicap at Chester last week. This requires another jolt of improvement, though.

Manatee Mehmas19

105,000 gns purchase who looked potentially smart in landing the odds in impressive fashion in 5f novice at Doncaster on debut 19 days ago. This asks a different question but has plenty of scope to improve.

Revival Power216
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: D Allan| T: T D Easterby| OR:  103| CD
Overdid things in the Queen Mary on the back of her Thirsk debut success but resumed her progress when making all in a C&D listed race and the Flying Childers at Doncaster. Seemed unsuited by the track at Newmarket on final outing and her physique suggests she'll prove at least as good at 3 yrs.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-13| J: Charles Bishop| T: Eve Johnson Houghton| OR:  84
Fairly useful maiden who wasn't seen to best effect when 2 lengths sixth of 14 in listed race at Bath (5f, good) on reappearance in April, not clear run over 1f out. This demands more, however.

Improving filly who completed a hat-trick in cosy fashion in 14-runner handicap at Thirsk (5f) last month. Looks set to climb the sprinting ranks further this summer so worthy of consideration up in grade.

Improved to make a successful reappearance in 5f handicap at Wolverhampton in March. However, failed to back up that improvement in a listed event at Bath before finishing well beaten in a 6f handicap at Chester. Hard to fancy.

Forecasts

Aspect Island (9/4), Revival Power (5/2), Manatee Mehmas (10/3), Dickensian (8/1), Simplify (8/1), Black Star Boy (16/1), Exclamation (25/1), Wor Faayth (33/1), Palmeira (50/1), Boston Dan (50/1), Temple Of Athena (66/1)

Verdict

ASPECT ISLAND had no easy task taking on his elders at Newmarket on his reappearance but this looks a far more suitable assignment back against his own age group, so he's taken to strike. C&D winner Revival Power finished only 2 places behind the selection in the Cornwallis Stakes on her final start at 2 yrs and appeals as the type who could progress again this year, while Manatee Mehmas made a striking winning debut at Doncaster recently and has scope for plenty of improvement.
