Maiden pointer and has offered little in a trio of maiden hurdles, falling at the fourth at Down Royal (17f) 6 days ago. Up in trip but looks to be up against it.

Point winner but hasn't shown much in his 2 bumper starts, eighth of 14 at this course (19f) in April last year. Absent since ahead of hurdling debut.

Impressive winner of 19f bumper at this course last spring. Fairly useful form when runner-up in a pair of maiden hurdles, before running no sort of race in tongue strap (now discarded) in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. Leading contender back in calmer waters.

Fairly useful form when making the frame all 4 starts in maiden hurdles, including when beaten only by the odds-on favourite at Limerick in March. In cheekpieces, well below form on handicap debut at Fairyhouse (2½m) 5 weeks ago, but he's worth another chance up in trip.

€25,000 4-y-o, Yeats gelding. Brother to useful hurdler/high-class chaser Chantry House (winner up to 25f) and closely related to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser The Last Day (2m winner). Off the mark in points at the fifth attempt last month.

Made the frame only completed start in points. Fitted with cheekpieces/tongue strap for hurdling bow, showed more than he had in a bumper when sixth of 17 in maiden at Clonmel (2½m) 26 days ago. Has work to do in this contest, though.

Sent off at big odds (150/1) on debut and ran out at the fifth in maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse (2½m) last month. Cheekpieces reached for as he goes up in trip.

Placed on first 2 of 3 starts in points and caused an 80/1 surprise when landing 8-runner bumper at this course (19f) on Rules debut in April, though there appeared to be no fluke about it. Bred to suited by this longer distance on hurdles bow.

Forecasts

Doctor Du Mesnil (2/9), Jeroboam Machin (11/4), Doctor Elvis (9/2), Zambezi Moon (13/2), Loyal Praetorian (20/1), Little John (25/1), Killowen House (28/1), Deerpark Hill (40/1), Seek A Richer Life (80/1), Clone Cross (100/1)

Verdict

DOCTOR DU MESNIL showed promise when runner-up in maidens on his first 2 starts over hurdles, so he is taken to bounce back from a lesser effort in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. Returned to the scene of his bumper success, he can get the better of Jeroboam Machin who is one to note on his hurdles bow, with Doctor Elvis also in the mix.
