Shaped better than the result when third in the BetMGM Cup at Cheltenham, finishing with more to give having been derailed by a bad mistake 2 out, Stop-start gallop didn't suit but still emerged with credit when third of 10 in Grade 2 at Fairyhouse (2½m) last month and he's a leading player.

Progressive as a juvenile, sixth in the Triumph prior to finishing third in Grade 1 Champion 4-y-o here last May. Solid form in handicaps recently, a good third of 18 in a listed event at Fairyhouse (2m, soft, 11/2) 28 days ago but hasn't shaped as if he wants this step up in trip.

Greatwood/Betfair Hurdle winner in 2023/24 who capitalised on a falling mark when cosily landing Lanzarote at Kempton (2m5f) in January. Things didn't really pan out for him when eighth in the BetMGM Cup last time but was well held at this meeting last year.

Posted smart effort when second in Aintree handicap last April. Held when falling at the last on his chase debut and it's possible he'll be better for the run after finishing tenth in the BetMGM Cup (21f) at Cheltenham in March. The feeling remains he can make a greater impact in this type of race.

Very useful bumper/novice hurdler who was back to his best when runner-up over longer trip on handicap bow at Ascot in January. Finished with an eye-catching flourish when eighth in the County Hurdle (16.8f) at Cheltenham in March and is respected upped in trip after a recent Flat spin.

Landed Cork maiden on his debut for this yard in 2024. Brought along steadily this term before producing an improved effort to finish fourth of 24 in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham (2½m, good to soft) 50 days ago. Still going the right way.

Progressed well once sent handicapping last season, going 2-3 at Sandown last April. Very unlucky to not make a winning return from an 11-month absence when third in the Martin Pipe (2½m) at Cheltenham, finishing with running left after meeting repeated trouble, and now has Townend back aboard.

Too free up in grade when 10¾ lengths eleventh of 21 in Baring Bingham Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham (21f, good) 52 days ago but remains unexposed now handicapping.

Bumper winner was runner-up on 2 of his first 3 starts in maiden hurdles and didn't need to improve to score in facile fashion at Limerick (19f, heavy, 2/5) 41 days ago. No chances have been taken with his opening mark, for all he's clearly a potential improver for top connections.

Opened account in a Punchestown maiden in November and showed improved form when winning 16-runner handicap hurdle there (20.5f, good to soft) the following month. 3m on heavy ground seemed to stretch him last time and but he might needed even more now tongue tied in a deep race.

Winner of a 19.3f handicap here (heavy) in January and has remained in good heart since, producing even better form to win a 17-runner handicap in similarly testing conditions at Naas (19f) 55 days ago. Bit more needed up in grade and back on a sounder surface.

Verdict

JUMP ALLEN was one of the hard luck stories of the Cheltenham Festival when third in the Martin Pipe and can make amends here. Letos ran well for a long way in the Pertemps Final and is also shortlisted back down in trip, with Tripoli Flyer fancied to benefit from the step up in trip and complete the 1-2-3.
