Built on Ascot debut promise when landing the odds in 8-runner York novice (6f, good) in October. Never in the hunt in a listed race here later that month but she's in good hands and may well resume her progress now upped to 7f for this handicap debut.

Sierra Sands18

Catterick maiden winner on third and final start of 2-y-o campaign and C&D reappearance fourth in a 13-runner handicap at the Craven meeting was encouraging, giving way close home after looking a big threat around a furlong out. Strong claims off the same mark with Ryan Moore again booked.

Confirmed promise of his 6f course debut last autumn when landing short odds in 7f Wolverhampton maiden in January. Further progress when a close third of 13 back from a break in a C&D handicap 18 days ago (Sierra Sands just behind in fourth) and likely to be in the mix once more.

Stepped up on debut effort when landing a 6f Newcastle novice in decisive fashion in November. No problem with the switch to turf when third on handicap bow upped to 7f at Naas (heavy) in March but wasn't in the same form back on the all-weather since and now tried in cheekpieces.

Produced by far her best effort at 2 yrs when a clear second in a C&D novice (good to firm) on latest start in October. That didn't look like a particularly strong race by Newmarket standards but this filly should nevertheless pay her way in handicaps this season.

Lohoobb292
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Rossa Ryan| T: Owen Burrows| OR:  76
Showed the benefit of his debut pipe-opener when making the frame in 6f novice events at Lingfield and Windsor last summer. However, he will need to raise his game a couple of notches in order to play a leading role now handicapping back from a 9-month absence.

Took another step forward when opening her account in a 7f Kempton maiden on return last month. Likely there's even more to come now that she ventures down the handicap route for her top yard.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-3| J: George Wood| T: Jessica Macey| OR:  74
Won a Pontefract novice over 6f last year and good second in 1m Kempton handicap on return in January. However, he hasn't shown much in 2 subsequent starts, including on debut for this yard over C&D recently.

Successful at first attempt over 7f in a Lingfield maiden in February but it's been a struggle in handicaps since and he's starting to look pretty exposed.

Winner of 7f maiden at Lingfield last May but lost her way for Stan Moore later in 2025. Decent fourth in 5f Catterick handicap on second run for new yard 10 days ago and she should pick up a race or 2 in the coming months if able to build on that.

Bred to be useful and there were positives to take from each of her 3 starts as a 2-y-o, for all that she failed to progress. No surprise were she to take a step forward now handicapping and dangerous to discount off what looks a fair opening mark.

Forecasts

Sierra Sands (4/1), Stellar Vision (9/2), Nanoscience (5/1), Thaluna (11/2), Lohoobb (7/1), Splash (8/1), Velvet Rhythm (10/1), Cotai Lights (10/1), Paroda Diva (16/1), King Of Chaos (25/1), Try Storm Cat (50/1)

Verdict

SIERRA SANDS travelled well throughout the race and left the impression that he would come on for the run when a close fourth in a similar C&D handicap at the Craven meeting. He again has the assistance of Ryan Moore and shades preference ahead of well-bred filly Nanoscience, who opened her account on the all-weather last month and brings potential to this handicap debut. Stellar Vision, who was just ahead of the selection in the aforementioned C&D handicap, also has solid claims.
