Resumed winning ways in refitted cheekpieces under this rider at Lingfield (1m) recently. Came up short under a penalty, which he carries again here, at Beverley 4 days later but he's clearly more of a force on the all-weather.

Hit-and-miss since landing a 1¼m Lingfield handicap last spring and trailed in last of 12 on return/sole start for Clare Hobson. Opposable on debut for another new yard.

Winner of an amateur event over 1¼m at Newbury last summer and shaped well when third over that trip at Chelmsford on return. Back on the right track when second at Lingfield (1m) last week and he's one for the shortlist.

Losing run mounting up and, following a low-key second half of last season, he's opposable back from a 6-month absence. Tongue strap refitted.

Finally opened her account with a thoroughly decisive performance in a 1m Bath handicap (good) earlier this month. Plenty of good efforts to her name on the all-weather, too, and she's a live contender.

Back on the scoresheet over C&D in February and followed that with a couple of solid efforts in defeat. Below par at Bath last time but it's not hard to envisage this 7-y-o quickly bouncing back now returned to the all-weather.

Doesn't boast the best of strike rates and not entirely straightforward but, to his credit, he has held his form well since joining this yard, twice hitting the crossbar over this C&D in recent months and was a close third at Newcastle (1m) a fortnight ago. In the mix.

Losing run mounting up but he has posted several creditable efforts in defeat since his latest success at Hamilton last summer. Latest fifth of 12 at Southwell (7f) was off a 2 lb higher mark and he's a big player back up in trip here.

Failed to get home over 1¼m when fifth of 8 at Chelmsford last month and has since made the frame in a couple of 7f/1m Lingfield handicaps. Still, others make more appeal for win purposes on this occasion.

Best not judged on her reappearance at Doncaster and shaped better when fifth of 11 returned to the all-weather at Newcastle (1m) 2 weeks ago. Down 1 lb but her strike rate is very modest (1-27) and she's opposable for win purposes.

Won at Cork last spring for Noel Meade and excellent second in a big-field Doncaster handicap on third run for this yard last month. Failed to reproduce that level of form next time, though, and he looks vulnerable.

Forecasts

No Knee Never (9/4), Rainwater (4/1), Alazwar (5/1), Volendam (6/1), Book Of Life (8/1), King of The Dance (10/1), Stockpyle (12/1), Sassy Glory (14/1), Pessoa (20/1), Wyvern (20/1), Always Fearless (25/1), Port Louis (40/1), Molly Valentine (80/1)

Verdict

Things didn't really pan out for RAINWATER at Southwell recently and he could be the answer to this open-looking handicap now back at what appears to be his optimum trip. Volendam got her head in front for the first time at Bath and, given the manner of that breakthrough success, she should remain competitive following a 7 lb hike. No Knee Never is third choice, with Alazwar also shortlisted.
