Won twice at 2 yrs and positive start to 2025 when third to Double Rush in a C&D 3-y-o handicap at this meeting. Built on that when scoring in tidy fashion back here 2 weeks later and while he failed to progress in 3 subsequent starts, he's dangerous to discount now returned to the Rowley Mile.

Went very close in a valuable 7f handicap off this mark here in May 2024 and has largely acquitted himself well in defeat since, not least when second in a conditions race at Kempton (6f) when last seen in October. Booking of William Buick an obvious plus but 13-race losing run is off-putting.

Five-time winner last year, including a C&D handicap on sole previous visit here in September. Better than bare result on latest appearance at Newcastle 3 months ago and each-way claims if ready to roll back from a break. Yard also saddles Baldomero.

Realign158
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-2| J: James Doyle| T: W J Haggas| OR:  93| D
Salisbury maiden winner on 2025 reappearance and, having been gelded, made it third time lucky in handicaps at Haydock (6f, good) in September. Only seventh at Doncaster on final run of last season but probably unsuited by the heavy going that day and he remains a sprinter to follow this year.

Regained winning thread at Ripon in September and followed that with a couple of fine efforts in defeat, notably going close in a big-field Doncaster handicap towards the end of the year. Failed to land a blow final run of 2025, albeit that was on the all-weather.

Ready all-the-way winner of 7f York handicap on final start for Andrew Balding last June (subsequently sold for 190,000 gns) and pick of efforts for this yard was a creditable third of 13 here on Cambridgeshire day in September. Gelded during the winter and this assignment demands improvement.

Double Rush221
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-13| J: Oisin Murphy| T: A M Balding| OR:  90| CD
Winner of first 2 starts last season, including a C&D 3-y-o handicap at this meeting, before performing with plenty of credit in valuable races at York and Hamilton (both at 6f). Too bad to be true when last seen at Ascot in September and he's of strong interest on debut for new connections.

Baldomerop17

Bagged a 5f Doncaster handicap last summer and registered 3 more victories on the all-weather towards the end of 2025. However, this 8-y-o was well held returned to turf/Town Moor recently and, though second in the 2024 renewal of this race, others make more appeal.

Gelded last summer and followed that procedure with a string of good placed efforts before deservedly resuming winning ways at Wolverhampton (6f) in November. Wasn't in the same form at Lingfield at the start of this year but he remains on a workable mark and is not without each-way hope.

Landed this prize off 4 lb higher on 2024 seasonal reappearance and also won first time out at Doncaster last term. However, he struggled on return this time round (first run for present yard after being bought out of the Richard Hannon yard 25,000 gns) and he's opposable on the back of that.

Rousing Encore19

Likeable type who resumed winning ways at Ayr in September and ended 2025 campaign with a close third of 18 at Doncaster. Put in another good shift when runner-up on recent reappearance at Newcastle (6f) but more will be needed if he's to get his head in front where it matters here.

Eternal Sunshine11
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-11| J: Lauren Young(5)| T: J S Goldie| OR:  88| D
Completed hat-trick in the Portland at Doncaster in September and ran well when third, beaten a neck, over 5f at York the following month. Ought to come on for recent reappearance spin at Musselburgh but she looks vulnerable for win purposes nonetheless.

Diligently221
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-9| J: Rob Hornby| T: C G Cox| OR:  86| D
Won Goffs' Million on final juvenile start and improved to go close on 6f Chester reappearance last spring. Back to form final 2 starts of last term, winning at Windsor before chasing home Eternal Sunshine at Thirsk (gelded since), and likely to be on the premises if fully tuned-up here.

Andesitep119
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-9| J: Jason Watson| T: Roger Fell| OR:  86| D
Has yet to add to his debut win in May 2024 and didn't impress with his head carriage when running badly at Doncaster on final outing of 2025. Wasn't disgraced on first run for new yard on recent return at Newcastle but hopes here pinned on the first-time cheekpieces sparking improvement.

Forecasts

Double Rush (10/3), Realign (9/2), Invictus Gold (15/2), Coul Angel (8/1), Divine Libra (8/1), Eye Of Dubai (10/1), Diligently (10/1), Zoulu Chief (12/1), Humam (12/1), Dark Thirty (16/1), Rousing Encore (20/1), Eternal Sunshine (25/1), Baldomero (33/1), Andesite (33/1)

Verdict

REALIGN's profile is similar to that of More Thunder, who landed this race for the Haggas yard 12 months ago before going on to make his mark in pattern company. It remains to be seen if Realign will go on to scale similar heights to his stablemate but there was plenty to like about his Haydock performance in September and he shades preference ahead of another 4-y-o who probably has more to offer this season, namely Double Rush. Of the others, Diligently and Invictus Gold are the most appealing.
