Mid-field in a bumper and has finished soundly beaten on all 3 starts over hurdles so far. Goes back up in trip for handicap debut but opening mark looks stiff.

Low-mileage 7-y-o who confirmed reappearance promise when getting off the mark in 2m Musselburgh handicap (good to soft) in January. Bumped into a revitalised rival (pair clear) when beaten at short odds at Newcastle the following week. Effectively another 5 lb higher here but still not ruled out.

Runner-up in a 2m Musselburgh handicap hurdle at the start of December but wasn't in same form when mid-field there a fortnight later. Didn't look a natural on chase debut last time so swiftly returns to hurdling.

Improved when recording hat-trick of handicap chase wins at Hexham (all 3m) in spring 2025. Returns from 9 months off here and market should prove best guide returned to hurdling for first time since 2022.

From a good jumping family and showed more on his third outing over hurdles when seventh of 12 in novice at this course (17f, good to soft, 150/1) 60 days ago. Step up in trip will suit and he's the type to do better now handicapping.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: Jonathon Bewley| T: G Bewley| OR:  83
Error-prone sort seemed to excel himself when third in a novice over 17f here at the start of March. Not in same form from well out of handicap at Sedgefield 48 hours later. Looks on a very interesting mark if able to reproduce his penultimate effort with cheekpieces back on.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: Joe Williamson| T: Mrs A C Hamilton| OR:  83WS
Irish point winner but no better than poor form over hurdles last season and has pulled up on both outings this campaign. Has had a breathing operation during 111-day absence.

Belvedere Bhoy29
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-7| J: S Bowen| T: L Russell & M Scudamore| OR:  76WS
Sent off favourite when finishing mid-field in a Hexham bumper and offered a bit more than previously over hurdles when fourth of 7 on his handicap bow at Ayr (2m, soft) 4 weeks ago. Has had a breathing operation since and is bred to be suited by this longer trip.

Poor maiden who was well held again back over hurdles at Newcastle on Tuesday.

Blended Stealthp15
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-5| J: Joshua Thompson(5)| T: Lizzie Quinlan| OR:  71
Temperamental sort who won at Hexham in May but has largely been let down by his attitude since and can't be considered a reliable betting proposition.

Forecasts

Sattam (7/4), Kicksaftersix (4/1), Je Mr Dawson (6/1), Belvedere Bhoy (8/1), Gonnino (12/1), Takeyoutotheisland (12/1), Rock N Roll Champ (14/1), King Kodiak (14/1), Blended Stealth (20/1), Gone With The Tide (20/1)

Verdict

TAKEYOUTOTHEISLAND is related to some useful sorts and hinted at better to come on his qualifying run last time, so is fancied to make a successful handicap debut in a race that lacks depth. Sattam met with defeat at short odds at Newcastle but his profile remains largely positive and he looks the obvious danger, whilst King Kodiak looks on a very interesting mark if not flattered by his third here last month.
