475,000 gns son of Sea The Stars who ran to a fair level both starts at 2 yrs, shaping a fair bit better than bare result when fourth in 7-runner maiden at Newcastle (1m) in October, doing too much too soon. Capable of better now upped to 1¼m.

Bred to be useful over middle distances and he matched the form displayed in 2 starts as a juvenile when second of 6 in novice at Southwell (11f) 4 weeks ago, having work cut out with promising newcomer but clear of rest. Entitled to come on for that.

Siyouni colt. Dam, winner up to 11.3f (won Cheshire Oaks), half-sister to high-class 1m-1¼m winner Real World. Ticks plenty of boxes on paper representing top stable so confidence behind him in the betting would need to be viewed positively. Has had breathing operation.

€42,000 foal, 110,000 gns yearling, Australia colt. Half-brother to several winners, including winner up to 1¼m Irish Legend and 9f-10.2f winner Invisible Friend, both useful. One of 2 interesting debutants from powerful yard and the betting ought to prove a useful guide.

€100,000 Zarak gelding who showed ability whilst highlighting the experience won't be wasted on him when fourth in 6-runner Southwell novice (11f) 4 weeks ago. Well-bred sort and he's entitled to progress.

950,000 gns yearling, St Mark's Basilica colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 1m-1½m winner Ottery and 1½m winner Listentome. Dam, German Group 2 1¼m winner. Noteworthy newcomer representing top yard and well worth considering before market clues.

Make Believe colt who posted a fair effort over a trip likely to be short of his optimum when staying on for third at Kempton (1m) on debut in November. Open to improvement with 1¼m looking sure to suit.

Well-bred New Bay colt who shaped with plenty of encouragement when runner-up in a Newmarket novice (1m) in October, green but noted doing good late work. Appeals as the type who will step up plenty and he's shortlisted now tackling 1¼m on return.

Green but showed plenty of ability when second on debut at York (7f) in September and similar form despite waywardness under pressure when third over 1m back there a month later. Very much the type to progress again as a 3-y-o over this longer trip and he's one to consider.

Forecasts

Turty Tree (10/3), Super Crown (7/2), Valenday (4/1), Marasi Bay (9/2), High Storm (8/1), Sailor Song (12/1), Rebel Legend (12/1), Faeberon (20/1), Three No Trumps (25/1)

Verdict

The market is likely to prove informative in assessing the newcomers but there was plenty to like about TURTY TREE's Newmarket second under hands-and-heels riding in the autumn and Andrew Balding's colt promises to do significantly better now upped in trip as a 3-y-o. Valenday showed plenty himself in 2 starts as a 2-y-o and is feared along with William Haggas newcomer Super Crown.
