Showed ability when fourth of 7 in a Worcester bumper in September but has looked one for the longer term in 2 maiden hurdles, tailed off at Doncaster (19f, soft) a month ago.

Unpromising in Irish points and was always behind on Rules debut when tenth of 12 in maiden hurdle at Ayr 3 weeks ago.

Shaped well when third in a Ffos Las bumper on debut but has failed to see his race out in 3 starts this season, having his second run over hurdles when well-beaten fifth of 9 in maiden at Southwell 25 days ago. Yard has good record at this course, though.

From an excellent jumping family but lightly raced so far, shaping as if needing the outing after 10 months off when fifth of 13 in maiden at Southwell (2½m) on hurdling/stable debut in February. This run should reveal more.

Runner-up on second of 2 starts in bumpers and, after 9 months off, was in the process of showing an aptitude for hurdling when departing 2 out in novice at Ludlow in February. However, was well held in a Catterick maiden last time.

Some promise when fourth of 15 in a Newcastle bumper on debut, but failed to build on that switched to hurdles when pulled up in 2½m novice at the same course early this month.

Related to several winners and made a winning debut in a Galway bumper in October for J. Conheady. Subsequently sold for £82,000 and he's an interesting recruit to hurdling with new yard continuing to go well.

Placed in a pair of bumpers and fair form when making the frame first 3 starts over hurdles. Lesser effort when third of 6 in novice at Catterick (19f, good) on New Year's Day, but no surprise to see him bounce back following a break.

Looked a hard ride on sole bumper outing and jumped ponderously before pulling up in maiden at Doncaster on hurdles bow in February. Hood now reached for.

In hood for debut, made little impression when fifth in 9-runner bumper at Kelso last month. Now sent hurdling but is probably one for further down the line.

Shaped better than on debut when fourth of 5 in a Sedgefield bumper in October, her 5-month absence seeming to tell, but went backwards from that effort when last of 7 at Catterick in December. Hood applied for hurdles bow.

Fairly useful form when winning twice from 4 starts on the level (raced at 11/12f) for Karl Burke in 2025. However, has made little impact in 2 starts over hurdles only 7 days apart and needs another run for a handicap mark.

Some promise when third in 2 novices (both at around 1¼m) on the Flat last year for Brian Meehan. However, looked badly in need of the experience sent hurdling when tailed off in juvenile event at Catterick in January. Tongue strap added.

Fair form when mid-field in newcomers race at Saint-Cloud on the Flat last spring. After 10 months off/left Andre Fabre, found heavy ground too much when pulled up at Doncaster on hurdling debut in February, so he could fare better under less testing conditions.

Forecasts

Pioneer Pete (10/11), Our Guide (2/1), King Esoteric (8/1), Double Tiger (12/1), Chico Magnifica (12/1), Emerald Time (18/1), Collanisi (33/1), Finbarr (33/1), Asta La Vista (66/1), Prince Phil (150/1), Hellion (150/1), Hashtag Queen (250/1), Betteryouthanme (300/1), Prince Of Clova (300/1), Millford Hill (400/1)

Verdict

This could go the way of OUR GUIDE, who made a successful start in a Galway bumper and has since joined a trainer capable of readying a hurdling newcomer. He gets the vote ahead of Pioneer Pete, who sets the standard of those with previous experience in this sphere, while King Esoteric is one to note for his leading yard.
