Four-time winner on turf, registering latest success from the front in 1¾m Haydock handicap in September. However, he's 0-4 on the all-weather and arrives here on the back of a couple of poor efforts over hurdles.

Both wins on the all-weather have been gained in 2m handicaps at this course, the latest off a 3 lb lower mark in January. Also successful over hurdles at Taunton recently and he looks sure to give another good account.

All 3 wins came in handicaps just shy of 1½m at Windsor but she's also won over 2m here, so there are no concerns on accounts of this surface nor trip. Wasn't seen to best effect at Lingfield last time and likely to be in the mix back at this venue.

Fairly useful maiden who was runner-up twice from 8 starts for Charlie Fellowes. Bettered what he showed back from a break on debut for this yard in January when fifth of 12 over 13f at Lingfield the following month and his mark continues on a southward trajectory.

Performed with credit when third off an 8 lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last month but that form has taken a few knocks and his subsequent efforts have not been anywhere near so good. Now tried in a visor.

Forecasts

Knight Templar (11/8), Sword Of Wessex (13/8), Naasma (6/1), Fleurman (12/1), High Point (14/1)

Verdict

SWORD OF WESSEX is still a maiden but this will be just his third start for the James Owen yard and he took a step back in the right direction at Lingfield last month. The 4-y-o has slipped to an appealing mark and is taken to open his account at the eleventh time of asking. The in-form Knight Templar is feared most, though Naasma will also be a threat, provided that they go a good clip.
