BetWright Novices' Handicap Chase (GBB Race)

Started life 2-2 over fences for Dan Skelton and following a forgivable effort in Borders National, quickly resumed progress when narrowly beaten at Wetherby. May prove difficult to peg back.

Form of Uttoxeter chase win hardly looks robust and only briefly looked a threat when well-held fifth at Newcastle subsequently. No easy task at the weights.

Progressive hurdler who left behind previous chase form when runner-up to one who'd controlled the pace at Sandown last time. Could still have more to offer on just his fourth start over fences.

Fairly useful/consistent over fences, shaping better than the result (effort flattened out) when fourth in 6-runner C&D handicap (heavy) latest, and reasonable to think he can see out his race better in first-time cheekpieces.

Low-mileage 7-y-o who confirmed chase debut promise with professional success at Newcastle. Not ideally placed when third in C&D handicap since and remains open to improvement.

Positively ridden to win twice over fences this season and shaped as though still in form when fourth in 6-runner handicap at Newcastle (2m) latest. More on his plate upped in grade, however.

Cemented a fine start over fences with a decisive success in 3m chase at Musselburgh and given he's proven himself versatile with regard trip/ground, there's no reason he shouldn't go close in follow-up bid.

Winning pointer who went the right way as a hurdler and made bright start over fences when winning first 2 starts. Only fifth when bidding for hat-trick at Newcastle, though, and tongue strap now applied.

Has jumped much better on his second season chasing, still on the up when landing a hat-trick at Catterick in January. Can have a line put through latest run (pecked badly), though this strong-travelling sort does have stamina to prove over markedly longer trip.

Best effort as chaser when landing second success over fences at Catterick prior. Chased home (an enterprisingly ridden) next-time-out winner at Sedgefield latest, and the fitting of more severe headgear can only help.
