Not the most fluent of jumpers but he's pretty reliable on the whole and proved better than ever when readily bagging the Berkshire National at Ascot in November. Has shaped as if still in good form whilst being undermined by jumping in Welsh/Edinburgh National since.

Stood little racing in recent seasons but returned to form from out of the blue to land a good pot from the front in the Punchestown Grand National Trial (27.3f, heavy) last month. Jumped better than is often the case there and it remains to be seen whether he can back that up.

Building a fine record in good handicap chases, runner-up in the Rehearsal at Newcastle on return and shaped well again when third in the Welsh National. Hit the frame once more in the Grand National Trial at Haydock last time and should give another good account.

Dual chase winner last season who made an encouraging return to action when runner-up in the Welsh Grand National Trial at Chepstow. Disappointing in the Welsh National itself next time and again at Wincanton (behind Jupiter Allen) since, so others are preferred.

Got back on track after a breathing operation when third of 5 in listed chase at Cheltenham (25f, heavy, 16/1) on return and capitalised on the drop in class when winning at Exeter prior to Christmas. Capitulated rather tamely when a well-beaten second at Wincanton since, so bit to prove now.

Made seamless progress in handicaps last season and improved again when making it 5 wins on the bounce here on reappearance. Back on the up returned to the mud when just denying Catch Catchfire in 14-runner event at Lingfield (28.8f, soft) 8 weeks ago and he's shortlisted with more to come.

Placed in Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival and Scottish Grand National in 2024. Not quite as effective since, looking laboured but at least plugging on in first-time blinkers when fifth in the Grand National Trial at Haydock 4 weeks ago. No good thing to build on that.

Found improvement when outpointing a progressive type in The Doyen Chief at Taunton last February and built on a couple of encouraging efforts this winter when jumping soundly to beat some exposed rivals in a 6-runner handicap at Wincanton (25.1f, heavy) 44 days ago. Up 6 lb in a better race now.

Low-mileage 8-y-o who has been in great form since fitted with cheekpieces, scoring at Newcastle in November. Runner-up both starts since, looking desperately in need of a return to further at Warwick (2½m, soft) 3 weeks ago. This is his first start beyond 3m and he's not without interest.

Useful ex-French chaser for Daniela Mele (dual cross-country scorer) who has acquitted himself well both starts for new connections, finishing second on the cross-country track at Cheltenham in December/January. Looks primed to win a good staying handicap for shrewd yard.

Won a small-field event at Wetherby in December 2024 and has held his form reasonably well without threatening to strike again since, patient tactics not really seeing him to best effect once more when sixth in the Grand National Trial at Haydock 4 weeks ago. Remains capable of better.

Signed off last season by winning a 3m novice handicap chase on this card. In-and-out form this term, his best effort coming when second of 4 at Plumpton in January. Failed to beat a rival at Ludlow 2 weeks ago though, so not easy to make a case for upped markedly in trip.

Improving stayer who was fitted with cheekpieces when getting off the mark in 29f handicap chase at Windsor in January. Backed it up with an excellent third to Grand Geste in Grand National Trial at Haydock and a likely player with stamina assured.

Error-prone sort is on a long losing run, though he ran better for a while when third in Edinburgh National at Musselburgh in February. Failed to build on that when pulled up at Bangor last time and he's opposable again.

Made a winning return at Ayr (3m) in November. Followed it with a good third in Borders National at Kelso but well below par both runs since at Windsor and Bangor. Usual headgear left off and could bounce back for in-form yard.

Capitalised on a career-low mark in 5-runner handicap chase at Huntingdon 23 days ago, suited by emphasis on stamina. Shouldn't have much issue with the longer trip but consistency has never been his strong suit and this is much tougher.

Won 2 of his first 3 starts over fences last season and proved better than ever when running Aworkinprogress to a neck at Lingfield in January. Unable to get to the front and never going well at Exeter last time, though.

J'ARRIVE DE L'EST comes here after missing the cut for both the Cross Country and Kim Muir at Cheltenham but Emmet Mullins seems to have found a good alternative for his unexposed ex-French gelding and he gets the vote. Neo King is a likeable and progressive type who is already proven over marathon trips, whilst there remains a hint of unfinished business about Grand Albert, who again caught the eye under a patient ride at Haydock last time.
