DragonBet The Roar Before Cheltenham Welcome Offer Handicap Chase (GBB Race)

Off time: 16:21 | Winning time: 5m 59.87s

Star Of Affinity^t²⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 12-0| J: Brendan Powell| T: J Tizzard| OR: 115

5/2

Already as good a chaser as he was a hurdler, finishing second at Wincanton before making the most of a good opportunity in a match race at Plumpton (2½m) last month.

Form: 135-421

As Legends Have It^p⁴⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 12-0| J: Ben Jones| T: B Pauling| OR: 115

5/4

Fairly useful bumper winner who finished in the money on each of his 5 starts over hurdles. Has also reached the frame on both completed starts over fences, albeit he was beaten 24 lengths when fourth last time.

Form: 3-233F4

Realta Liath⁵²

Age: 7| Weight: 11-11| J: James Bowen| T: W Greatrex| OR: 112

5/1

Maiden hurdler but this point winner went in readily at Fontwell (19.5f, good to soft) on her debut over fences in November. Good close third (Batwomen sixth) in a big field at Cheltenham 5 weeks later but disappointing when distant fourth over 3m at Market Rasen since.

Form: 424-134

Noche Negra^p⁴⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 11-9| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 110

14/1

Got back on the up in no uncertain terms for a new yard when bolting up in 2½m Warwick handicap (soft) last winter but hasn't got close to that form in 2 outings this season. Found to have an irregular heartbeat when pulling up back at Warwick last time.

Form: 33/51-5P

Streamsforth Lad^p,t¹⁹

Age: 8| Weight: 10-7| J: Alan Doyle⁽³⁾| T: G Hanmer| OR: 94

15/2

Competitive off this sort of mark over hurdles but has failed to complete on all 3 chase starts, unseating the last twice. Comes with obvious risks.

Form: 3533UU

Pescatorius^p,t⁴⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 10-7| J: Beau Morgan⁽⁵⁾| T: B R Summers| OR: 94

22/1

Better than ever to win at Sedgefield and Market Rasen for Olly Murphy in the autumn but has finished a well-held fifth on both starts for this yard.

Form: 321155

Weight: 11-12| Age: 8

Forecasts

As Legends Have It (5/4), Star Of Affinity (5/2), Jeu D'opale (5/2), Realta Liath (5/1), Streamsforth Lad (15/2), Batwomen (8/1), Noche Negra (14/1), Pescatorius (22/1)

JEU D'OPALE might be able to cope with a 9 lb rise for Wincanton. Second choice is Batwomen who had a possible excuse when beaten at a short price last time and could resume her progression after a breathing operation. Star of Affinity is next on the list.
