Course bumper winner who was successful at Haydock last January. Given a considerate comeback when seventh of 8 in handicap hurdle at Haydock (9/1) 27 days ago after 11 months off, shaping as if as good as ever but not knocked about. Makes plenty of appeal down in grade.

Successful at Ayr off 4 lb higher last January and wasn't disgraced when third of 4 in handicap hurdle at Doncaster (12/1) 21 days ago, though left behind by the front pair late on. C&D winner and solid claims with sights lowered.

Won at Wetherby in December wearing first-time cheekpieces and ran well both starts since from higher marks, second of 7 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (9/2) 19 days ago, sticking at it gamely behind a lightly-raced rival. Can continue to give a good account.

Won a novice hurdle at Ludlow by 17 lengths in October 2024 but fell at Ayr 457 days ago on handicap/stable debut and not seen since. Long absence remains a concern and market can guide with yard also saddling Bertie's Ballet and Heart Above.

Free-going sort has yet to recapture best since leaving Alan King but ran better from a slipping mark when fifth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (14/1) 43 days ago, headway before 2 out but one paced after. Claims if he can build on that having first run after wind operation.

Useful on the Flat and left his hurdling debut form behind when third at Wetherby in late December but proved a let-down at Doncaster (13/2) 3 weeks ago, off the pace and no response from 2 out. Could do better on handicap debut with cheekpieces back on.

Won at this C&D in November on second hurdling start but found it tougher under penalty when fourth of 10 in novice hurdle at Ayr (9/2) 31 days ago against above-average prospects, shaping as if 8-week absence might have been telling late on. Handicap debut and remains one to keep in mind.

Third of 11 in maiden hurdle at this C&D (15/2) 46 days ago, making his presence felt against a couple of potentially above-average novices. Looks ready for this switch to handicaps and likely to be capable of better.

Point winner/maiden hurdler was prominent in the market when fourth of 6 at this C&D on stable debut in November. Pulled up in 3m handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (10/3) 67 days ago, sloppy jumping evident as he weakened from 3 out. Not long with this yard and worth a market check back down in trip.

Forecasts

Triple Crown Ted (3/1), Bertie's Ballet (3/1), Lance Les Des (9/2), Chase A Fortune (9/2), Heart Above (6/1), Admiralty House (10/1), Travis Wheatley (10/1), Ginger Mail (11/1), Liberty Coach (28/1), Highly Recommended (100/1)

Verdict

BERTIE'S BALLET is a course winner who shaped as if as good as ever when given a considerate return at Haydock last month. He's fancied to resume winning ways at the expense of Ginger Mail, who also appeals dropped in class. Lance Les Des has shaped well twice here this season and looks ready for handicaps, while fellow handicap debutants Liberty Coach and Triple Crown Ted are also worth noting.
