Point winner who showed ability on first of his 2 starts over hurdles sphere for James Ewart. Beaten favourite both runs for new yard following a break/wind op but latest third on handicap bow at Newcastle (23.7f, good to soft) was creditable and appeals as the type to make a better chaser.

Goes well on soft ground and she resumed from 7 months off with a good second of 12 in a handicap over this C&D in November. Rather laboured at Carlisle since but eased 3 lb as a result and she's dangerous to discount.

Didn't show a great deal in bumpers/over hurdles but this 7-y-o has performed with credit both starts since switched to fences, latterly finding just one too good in a C&D handicap (heavy). Now 1 lb lower and he has to enter calculations.

Tumbled down the weights and showed a bit more when hitting the frame twice last spring, latterly on chase debut at Hexham. However, he hasn't backed that up in 2 subsequent runs, including when returning from a break over this C&D in November.

Opened her account at the fifth attempt over fences at Newcastle in March 2023. However, she then endured a prolonged spell on the sidelines and has offered little in 2 appearances since returning from a 32-month absence.

Dual hurdles winner back in 2023 but he's 0-15 in this sphere and has failed to complete on each of his last 3 starts. Now tried in a tongue strap.

Best effort for a while when nailed close home at Hexham last spring but not in the same form since and this veteran hasn't won a race since November 2020.

Forecasts

Big Zouk (11/8), Jirko (5/2), Rob Roy Macgregor (5/1), Torosay (6/1), I See The Sea (8/1), Euchan Falls (12/1), Maid Of Houxty (20/1), Kingston Rock (20/1), Muroor (100/1)

Verdict

BIG ZOUK was a big-money buy from the Irish pointing field after winning his sole start between the flags and can be expected to step up on what he showed over hurdles now tackling the larger obstacles. He gets the nod ahead of I See The Sea and Jirko, in that order of preference.
