Got back on track in refitted cheekpieces when third of 6 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (3m, good to firm) in November. Blinkers the headgear of choice this time and will need to sharpen up his jumping is he's to be thereabouts off the same mark.

Doubled his tally on second start in cheekpieces when winning a 2½m Ffos Las handicap (heavy) in February. Hit-and-miss overall and wasn't on a going day at Chepstow last time but reproduction of his fourth of 17 here on penultimate start would give him a fighting chance.

Sound record in handicaps for Simon Earle and proved better than ever after 6 months off/in refitted hood when making a winning stable debut at Market Rasen in April. Placed all 3 subsequent starts and it's not hard to envisage this 8-y-o giving another good account.

Took advantage of reduced mark when striking back in this sphere at Fontwell (21.8f, soft) in January. Decent second at the same course next time and, though below par since, he's a C&D winner and will be a big player if the first-time visor has the desired effect.

Well backed when making a winning debut in an ordinary Carlisle maiden hurdle in the spring. However, he has offered little both subsequent starts, including on handicap bow at Taunton last time.

Point winner in January 2023 and showed ability in 2 starts switched to hurdles at Chepstow last season. This stiffer test will be in her favour now pitched into a handicap and while a sizeable step forward is needed, she's certainly not without hope.

Made the frame on last 2 starts in Irish points but hasn't troubled the judge in maiden/novice hurdles. Likely he'll be better off now handicapping but others make more appeal all the same.

Has tendency to jump left but bounced back from a fall at Ludlow when doubling her tally at Leicester (15.5f, heavy) last month. Lost little caste in defeat when fourth of 10 back up in trip at the same course (20.5f, heavy) recently and she has to enter calculations.

Fairly useful Flat winner but regressive in that sphere last year and little to shout about over hurdles so far. Another who will need to improve markedly now upped in trip for this handicap debut.

Sole career success to date came in a 16.7f novice hurdle here on New Year's Day 2024. It's been a struggle for the most part in handicaps since but he has shown more in 2 starts this season following a wind op and he has to be high on the shortlist.

Much improved form when winning on handicap debut at Taunton in March. However, she didn't shape with much encouragement on her reappearance at Fontwell and it's probably best to look elsewhere.

Winner of a bumper and maiden hurdle for Gordon Elliott in Ireland. Runner-up in Hereford handicap hurdle for this yard in November 2023 but no worthwhile form on this side of the pond otherwise and hopes now pinned on the addition of blinkers sparking a revival.

Ended last season with a 3m handicap win at Chepstow and, though well held when falling 3 out there on return in November, his jumping was more polished when third at Taunton next time. Each-way claims.

Verdict

Having plummeted to an attractive mark, STORMING NELSON has taken steps back in the right direction since returning to action this season, with the wind operation he underwent during his break seemingly the catalyst for the return to form. The 7-y-o shades preference ahead of Olivia Kate and Shuil Ceoil. If Getaway With You goes to post (due to run at Ffos Las on Thursday) he'll also merit close consideration, while the likes of Locked Down Lad and Moorland Rambler are live each-way candidates.
