£100,000 Point recruit got off the mark over hurdles in a maiden here in December 2023. However, he failed to make an impact in handicaps for Olly Murphy last season and ran no sort of a race on return/debut for new yard at Chepstow. Now tried in blinkers.

Won in the mud at Wetherby in February and returned to form when runner-up there on second run of this season last month. Followed that with another good effort in defeat at Catterick (25.3f, good) recently and he's one to consider off the same mark.

Posted best effort yet when chasing home Tankardstown Diva (winner again since) on return at Market Rasen, but has failed to build on that in 2 subsequent starts, including in a first-time visor (retained) at Aintree last time.

Placed in Irish points and has improved upped in trip/switched to handicaps with cheekpieces enlisted this season, most recently finding one too good at Haydock (24.3f, good). Still has low mileage and he's one of the more appealing candidates.

Lightly-raced 10-y-o who was a winner of sole point start back in December 2020. Wasn't seen out again until this time last year, but she's performed well all 3 starts since switched to handicaps, giving it a good go from the front when third on return at Hexham (23.3f, heavy). Needs considering.

Positive start over fences last term, but failed to progress in that sphere and has resumed with a couple of very poor displays in handicap chases at Fontwell and Wincanton (pulled up both occasions) this season. Hopes pinned on return to hurdles/first-time visor sparking a revival.

Overall profile is far from compelling, but addition of the first-time tongue strap (combined with usual cheekpieces) seemingly worked wonders recently at Hereford (25.5f, soft) where he landed an 11-runner handicap with minimum fuss. 7 lb rise could've been worse and he's a big player.

Ended last season with a couple of creditable placed efforts, including when third to the re-opposing Farmer Jimmy at Wetherby in February. However, he didn't offer much on return at Catterick and last got his head in front back in March 2021.

Produced best effort for some time when third of 10 at Ayr (24.3f, heavy) on penultimate start, but it's getting on for 5 years since he last got his head in front and it was no great surprise that this 8-y-o failed to reproduce that Ayr form next time at Hexham. Cheekpieces refitted.

Shaped well when third in Hereford bumper on debut in February and while he's failed to build on that since, including in 3 runs at up to 20.6f since switched to hurdles, better can be expected now upped in trip for this handicap bow. It will be interesting to see if support arrives for this 4-y-o.

Prominent in the betting switched to handicaps for new yard the last twice, but there hasn't been much in the way of improvement and while the booking of Sean Bowen is a plus point, several of the others are more appealing.

Now 5 lb below the mark off which she opened her chase account at Leicester in February, but it's been pretty much all downhill since (including in this sphere) and now finds herself with a bit to prove.

Sole success came over C&D back in May 2023, subsequent to which her record has been heavily punctuated with non-completions (pulled up on 3 of her last 5 starts) and the addition of cheekpieces (retained here) failed to spark a revival at Exeter last month.

Bollin Thou (11/4), La Higuera (4/1), Glengolly (9/2), Superior Glance (6/1), Sandscape (8/1), Farmer Jimmy (8/1), Donttellyamumjack (9/1), Hobb's Delight (25/1), Coventry (28/1), Kauto D'Amour (28/1), Shesupincourt (33/1), Elfride (40/1), Itsnoteasy (80/1)

Verdict

The vote goes to LA HIGUERA, who has acquitted himself well upped to around 3m in handicaps at Ffos Las and Haydock since returning to action last month. The lightly-raced 6-y-o should have more to offer and shades preference ahead of easy Hereford winner Glengolly and handicap debutant Donttellyamumjack. Another who is well worth a second look is Superior Glance.
