Off time: 16:40 | Winning time: 2m 1.43s

(6)

Carnival Queen⁵³

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: Billy Loughnane| T: C Appleby

6/5

Finished sixth of 8 in novice stakes at this track (8.7f) on debut 53 days ago, slowly into stride and showing inexperience throughout. Bred to be smart and seems sure to do better with that experience under belt.

Form: 6

Elenaya²⁰³

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: Cieren Fallon| T: Dr R Newland| BF

40/1

Last of 5 on debut at Lingfield over 7f in May. Backed as though thought capable of much better and now goes up markedly in trip.

Form: 5

(1)

Five Moons

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: J Mitchell| T: S & E Crisford

9/1

75,000Y: first foal, dam unraced half-sister to Coventry Stakes winner Arizona and graded US 1m-9f winner Nay Lady Nay. Yard more than capable of readying a newcomer.

Form:

(4)

Koala Rose

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: H Crouch| T: R M Beckett

11/8

Foaled April 13. 36,000 gns foal, €110,000 yearling, Australia filly. Half-sister to useful winner up to 9.4f Harrison Point. Dam 1m-1¼m winner. In very good hands and she makes plenty of appeal on paper.

Form:

(9)

Kokoluna¹⁷

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: Charles Bishop| T: Eve Johnson Houghton

12/1

Very green when sixth of 11 at Bath (18/1) but showed more when second of 12 in a maiden at Lingfield (33/1) 17 days ago. Could be set to progress further as she gains experience.

Form: 62

(3)

Morningtoncrescent

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: Harry Davies| T: C Fellowes

14/1

90,000F, 120,000Y. First foal: dam 1½m-13.3f winner out of smart 1m winner Belle d'Or, herself half-sister to 2000 Guineas winner Footstepsinthesand. Newcomer for respected yard.

Form:

(5)

Stellar World²⁴

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: Alistair Rawlinson| T: H Morrison

40/1

Low-key debut at Kempton (33/1) and showed improvement when 6th of 14 in novice at Southwell (66/1) 24 days ago, outpaced before plugging on. Stepping up in trip will therefore suit.

Form: 06

(8)

Sweet Mabel¹⁴

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: Rowan Scott| T: D Loughnane

100/1

Showed little promise when ninth of 11 on debut and fifth of 8 at this track (50/1) 14 days ago. Steps up significantly in trip and likely needs more time.

Form: 95

(7)

Treasured Moments²²

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: P Cosgrave| T: C Johnston

66/1

Finished seventh of 9 in novice at Southwell (6/1), beaten 11½ lengths, 22 days ago. Significant step up in trip needs to make a dramatic difference.

Form: 7

Forecasts

Carnival Queen (6/5), Koala Rose (11/8), Five Moons (9/1), Kokoluna (12/1), Morningtoncrescent (14/1), Stellar World (40/1), Elenaya (40/1), Treasured Moments (66/1), Sweet Mabel (100/1)

KOALA ROSE makes her racecourse debut for a trainer who excels with newcomers and, as a half-sister to useful winner Harrison Point, she merits serious attention. Carnival Queen showed inexperience when sixth at this track 53 days ago but is bred to be smart and should improve significantly second-time-out. Five Moons, related to Coventry Stakes winner Arizona, completes the shortlist.
