Winless since bagging back-to-back handicaps during spring 2023, but he has been placed on a number of occasions in the interim, including when third of 10 at Plumpton (2m, good to soft) on latest start in April. Resumes on a 2 lb lower mark and is certainly one to consider.
Irish maiden hurdle winner in 2023 and proved that ability remains intact following a lengthy absence when third on debut for this yard at Market Rasen in July. However, it would be something of an understatement to say that he has failed to back that up since.
Gained the first of his 2 wins last winter in this very race and while he has yet to hit top form in 3 runs since returning to action in October, it's interesting to note that it was on his fourth start of last season that he bagged this prize. 2 lb lower this time round and he's a key player.
Ended long losing run equipped with a first-time visor when scoring at Newton Abbot (16.8f, heavy) in April. Well held both starts since and headgear is discarded back from a break here on first run for new connections. Interesting to see how he shapes up in the betting.
Maiden pointer who has offered little in maiden/novice company, but cheekpieces enlisted for this handicap debut and, with Brian Hughes booked, he needs a second look in the betting.
Multiple winner on the Flat, but he hasn't cut much ice in 4 starts over hurdles to date, including on recent C&D handicap debut in this sphere.
Modest maiden who boasts some decent pieces of form, interspersed with a number of rather underwhelming performances. Still, he's far from being the only one of these with blemishes on their record and he will be a threat if on-song back from an 8-month break.
Winless following 9 attempts between the flags and offered little in a trio of novice hurdles at Cartmel during the summer. However, she showed more when fourth of 10 in a first-time tongue strap (retained) on handicap bow here (19.8f, good to firm) last time and this drop back in trip may help.
Failed to find any improvement on handicap debut in this sphere at Market Rasen when last seen in April and it's easy enough to look elsewhere.

Forecasts
Bathgate (6/4), Inferno Sacree (4/1), Kaviar Wood (9/2), John Betjeman (11/2), Berry Edge (10/1), Cross Of Redmoor (16/1), Kingston Rock (16/1), Nottodaybobo (50/1), Macho Sun (100/1)
Having shaped as though on the way back when fifth at Kelso recently, BATHGATE is taken to repeat his victory in this race 12 months ago. Inferno Sacree is one of the more solid-looking candidates in this line-up, for all that it's been a while since he last got his head in front. Nigel Hawke's charge rates the main danger ahead of Kingston Rock.
