8/15
Very smart hurdler, winning his first 4 starts prior to an excellent second behind The New Lion in Grade 1 company at the Festival in March. Running below form when falling at Punchestown on final start in May but he remains a fine prospect now tackling open company for the first time.

8/1
Smart course winner who posted a career best when winning 10-runner Ballybin Hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, soft) when last seen 6 months ago. Needed his respective reappearance in this race last season however, and yard look to hold stronger claims with The Yellow Clay.

12/1
Smart hurdler who ended a losing run stretching back to his novice days in 2021 in 4-runner minor event hurdle (3/1) at Sligo (17.5f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Likeable type but this demands more on these terms.

33/1
Useful chaser who made a winning reappearance in that sphere at Galway (22.5f) in October. Struggled tackling more exacting company next 3 starts, pulled up in Pat Taaffe Chase (24.5f) in May and he's likely best watched on this return to hurdling following 6 months off.

Useful mare who has won 3 times on Flat/over hurdles during first half of last year including Doncaster Grade 2. Placed in Grade 1s at Aintree/Punchestown thereafter and she lines up here from spins on the Flat in recent months. Respected.

Forecasts

The Yellow Clay (8/15), Jetara (10/3), Maxxum (8/1), Mozzies Sister (8/1), Colonel Mustard (12/1), Grandero Bello (33/1)

Verdict

THE YELLOW CLAY's only blemish on what was an otherwise highly-productive novice campaign came when falling at the Punchestown Festival back in May, yet he remains a leading prospect now venturing into open company for the first time and is fancied to make a winning return. Jetara rates next best ahead of the selection's stablemate Maxxum.
